Wrestling at 134 pounds, Mike Garcia became Central’s first national champion as a senior in 1982. That season he posted a record of 26-3-1. A two-time All-American (he was fourth at 134 pounds in 1981), Garcia had a career record of 54-13-1, for a career winning percentage of .815, third best in Mules history.
