1993 Mule Cross Country
In 1993, the Mules Cross Country team won the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association championship, and went on to finish second in the NCAA Regional meet. But they did not stop there, as Central continued racing, heading to Riverside, Calif. and ultimately tying for fifth at the NCAA Division II Championships, the highest national finish ever for a Mules cross country team. Led by head coach Kirk Pedersen, the Mules won the conference title with 25 points, as Jonah Melly won the individual title, Paul Orscheln was third, Brett Palmer finished fifth, Rodger Knedel placed sixth, and Jamie Moreno was 10th. Central was led by Melly’s 19th place finish at the national championships.
