Before Central Missouri: Lapaglia finished eighth at nationals during the 2013-14 season at 149 pounds to garner All-American honors while wrestling for Maryville.

In high school: Lapaglia was ranked 12th in the nation at 145 pounds and 68th overall as a senior. He won state titles as a sophomore and a junior, and placed third as a freshman and senior and led his team to two State Championships.
