TIP OFF 
  • The Central Missouri Mules continue MIAA play, hosting the Missouri Western Griffons Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 7:30 p.m. during Cancer Awareness Night, before a matchup with the Northwest Missouri Bearcats Saturday, Jan. 24 at 3:00 p.m. for our annual Blackout Game.
  • PROMOTIONS: Wednesday's game is Cancer Awareness Night. UCM Athletics will honor and collect donations for the Johnson County (Mo.) Cancer Foundation. Saturday's contest is the annual Blackout Game. All fans are encouraged to wear black and be loud. In addition, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be hosting a winter clothes/gear drive at the main entrance. Fans who donate will receive half-price admission. There will also be a bounce house, provided by Warrensburg Parks & Recreation, at the game.
  • The Mules split a pair of MIAA games this past week, with a 96-57 victory over the Newman Jets in Wichita, Kan., before falling to the Emporia State Hornets 89-88 in overtime inside White Auditorium.
  • Mules freshman guard Lazerek Houston was named to the 2026 Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List, announced by the Small College Basketball National Awards Committee on Thursday, Jan. 15.
  • Central Missouri enters play with the second-most wins in NCAA Division II men's basketball history with 1,792 victories, having won two NCAA Men's DII National Championships (1984 & 2014) and four championships (1937 & 1938 NAIB) overall.

  • Both games will be available on a pay-per-view basis through the MIAA Network, with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night, before coverage of Saturday's contest against the Bearcats is slated for 3:00 p.m.

MEET THE MULES 
  • Adam Bohac enters his third season as head coach of the Mules after finishing the 2024-25 season with a 15-15 overall record, including 9-10 in the MIAA, highlighted by two All-Conference performers in Kyran Tilley (2024-25 MIAA Freshman of the Year) and DeAirius Barker (Honorable Mention).
  • Central Missouri returns four players from last year's squad, including MIAA Freshman of the Year Kyran Tilley, Jake Fritz, Noah Martin, and Kyree Polk. 
  • The Mules added six transfers to the roster, including three Division I transfers in Naz Brown (Coastal Carolina), AJ Lux (Bellarmine), and Jevon Hill (South Dakota), while adding Division II additions in Judah Sault (Belmont Abbey), Deadric Fikes (Newman), and Deshawne Crim (St. Thomas Aquinas College).
  • Central Missouri added three freshmen from the class of 2025, including forwards Carter Kaifes (Overland Park, Kan.) and Trinell Parker (Omaha, Neb.), plus guard Lazerek Houston (Lincoln, Neb.).
  • The Mules have adopted the acronym #Family as their team motto, which means "Forget About Me, I Love You"
 
 
UCM BY THE NUMBERS 
  • The Mules come into play Wednesday evening with an overall record of 14-6, 5-3 in MIAA play, averaging 82.2 points per game while shooting 48.3 percent from the field, including 40.2 percent from beyond the arc and 70.3 percent from the charity stripe.
  • Central Missouri averages 36.5 rebounds, 16 assists, seven steals, and three blocks per contest.
  • Four Mules are averaging double-digit scoring this season, including freshman Lazerek Houston (20.3 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.2 rebounds), forward Jevon Hill (14.3 points and 5.3 rebounds), reigning MIAA Freshman of the Year Kyran Tilley (13.2 points, four assists, and four rebounds), and Omaha, Neb. native Trinell Parker (10.1 points and 5.4 boards).  
  • Heading into play Wednesday night, Houston is top 10 in the country in field goals made (140), points scored (389), and assists (101). The freshman has recorded four double-double performances on the year, highlighted by 13 points, a season-high 12 assists, adding a season-best seven rebounds and two steals during the 78-71 victory over Emporia State (Jan. 1).
  • Hill, a native of Wichita, Kan., leads the nation in three pointers made with 66, highlighted by a career-high 30 points, going a career-best 10-of-12 from the floor, including a career-high 9-of-11 from beyond the arc, adding five rebounds for good measure in the 89-67 victory at (Receiving Votes) Drury.
 

SERIES HISTORY
  • RV Missouri Western: Wednesday marks the 80th all-time meeting between the Griffons and Central Missouri, with the Mules holding a 44-35 advantage overall. The Mules are 27-9 in Warrensburg, following a 59-55 MWSU victory a season ago.     
  • Northwest Missouri: The Bearcats and Central Missouri will meet for the 230th time in program history Saturday afternoon inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center, with Central Missouri holding a 125-104 overall record. The Mules are 70-38 in Warrensburg, following a 63-62 Bearcat win a season ago.
 

UP NEXT FOR THE MULES
  • The Mules continue MIAA play Thursday, Jan. 29, as they take on the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers (9-10, 2-6 MIAA), with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m., inside the Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Neb.
