  • Fourth-ranked and No. 1 seed Central Missouri Jennies soccer (16-1-2) is scheduled to host fourth-seeded Fort Hays State (11-1-7) in a MIAA Women's Soccer Championship semifinal match Friday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m. at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg. As the highest remaining seed in the tournament, UCM will also host a semifinal contest featuring No. 2 seed Emporia State and No. 3 seed Northwest Missouri State Friday at 10 a.m., as well as the tournament championship match featuring the two semifinal winners Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m.
  • The Jennies are coming off a 2-0, shutout win over No. 8 seed Missouri Western in the quarterfinals Sunday, Oct. 30. Madilyn Hamline and Molly Ricker scored UCM's goals in the victory. 
  • UCM held steady at No. 4 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches' Division II Coaches' Poll released Tuesday. 
  • Through 19 matches, Julia Kristensen leads the MIAA Regular Season Champion Jennies with 14 goals, including seven game-winning goals, and six assists for 34 points. Hamline has 10 goals and four assists for 24 points while Caroline Cole has seven goals and five assists for 19 points. Lindsay Edmonds has three goals, and Molly Ricker, Ashleigh Martin, Alexis Christopherson, Calynn Harbert and Anna Lack each have two goals on the season. Seven different Jennies have scored one goal through 19 contests in 2022. 
  • With 19 matches in the books, Kristensen leads the MIAA in total points and game-winning goals, and ranks second in goals and fifth in assists. Hamline is fourth in the conference in goals, fifth in points and tied for seventh in assists, while Cole is sixth in assists, seventh in points and eighth in goals. 
  • Kristensen is second in all of NCAA-II in game-winning goals going into Friday's semifinal match and is 15th in total goals and 16th in total points.  
  • In goal for UCM, sophomore Sydney Beck is 16-1-2 with 52 saves, eight shutouts and 15 goals-allowed for a 0.83 goals-against average (GAA) in 1627:38. In the most recent MIAA goalkeeper statistics, she ranks fourth in GAA and fifth in saves. 
  • The Jennies lead the MIAA through 19 matches in goals (51) and points (132), and are third in assists (30), and are 13th in total goals, 18th in total points and 29th in total assists in the most recent NCAA-II national rankings.
  • Central Missouri is the preseason favorite in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Jennies Top Team in Latest NCAA-II Central Regional Rankings
  • Fourth-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer held steady at number one in the most recent NCAA-II Central Regional Rankings released Wednesday, Nov. 2, by the NCAA. 
  • The MIAA Regular Season Champion Jennies sit atop the Central Region with an overall record of 16-1-2. Minnesota State (13-1-4) is up to number two in the latest ranking while Bemidji State (11-1-5) is third, rounding out the top three teams.
  • Fort Hays State (11-1-7), Emporia State (10-5-4), Northwest Missouri State (13-4-2), Central Oklahoma (11-4-4) and Washburn (11-6-2) wrap up the top eight teams. 
  • Minot State (8-2-8) and Augustana (10-6-2) complete the rankings in ninth and 10th, respectively. 
  • The top eight teams in the final regional rankings on Monday, Nov. 7, will qualify for the NCAA Division II women's soccer tournament.
Seven Jennies Take Home All-MIAA Women's Soccer Accolades
  • Jennies soccer team had seven student-athletes earn All-MIAA honors for their performances on the soccer pitch during the 2022 MIAA conference season, the conference office announced Wednesday, Oct. 26.
  • Julia Kristensen and head coach Lewis Theobald took home the conference's top honors. Kristensen was voted both the Offensive Player and Freshman of the Year while Theobald earned Coach of the Year honors.
  • Kristensen (unanimous), Caroline Cole and Lindsay Edmonds were all named First Team All-MIAA while Kloee Grubb, Madilyn Hamline and Andree Orcutt garnered Second Team All-MIAA accolades and Molly Ricker earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors.
MIAA Weekly Honors Home Cookin'
  • Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 68-4-1 at the South Recreation Complex. During that span, UCM has surrendered just 52 goals.
  • All-time at the South Recreation Complex, UCM is 208-35-9 under head coach Lewis Theobald and 145-14-8 in overall program history. The Jennies have compiled undefeated home records five times.
Series History
  • Fort Hays State: Friday's MIAA tournament semifinal match against Fort Hays State will mark the 16th meeting in the all-time series dating back to 2011. UCM leads the series, 12-2-1. The Jennies and Tigers faced each other earlier this season on Oct. 16 in Hays, Kan., with both teams playing to a 1-1 draw. In MIAA tournament play, Central Missouri is 3-1 all-time against Fort Hays State. The last time the two teams met in the MIAA tournament was last season, with the Jennies posting a 3-2 win in overtime in a quarterfinal match. UCM's lone loss to FHSU in the conference tournament was a 2-1, double overtime setback in the championship match in 2012. 
Welcome to the 'Burg! Head Coach Lewis Theobald
Central Missouri women's soccer head coach Lewis Theobald, now in his 15th year, has transformed the Jennies Soccer program into one of the premier programs not only in the MIAA, but in all of NCAA Division II.

The 11-time MIAA and five-time region Coach of the Year has an impressive 272-40-23 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history and is the all-time winningest coach in Jennies soccer history. He brought home the program's first ever National Championship in the 2017 season.

Theobald entered the 2022 season as the winningest active coach in Division II women's soccer with an .843 winning percentage, among coaches with at least five years on the sidelines. He also is the all-time D-II leader among coaches with at least 10 years and is sixth all-time in all NCAA Divisions.  

During his tenure, Theobald has coached 19 All-Americans and 126 All-MIAA honorees.

A 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, Theobald received his bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in physical education.

  • Jennies soccer was voted preseason No. 1 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2022 season.
  • UCM received 121 points and 11 of 12 possible first-place votes in the poll.

  • If Central Missouri wins its semifinal match Friday, it will advance to the MIAA Women's Soccer Championship match Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
