  • Fourth-ranked and No. 1 seed Central Missouri Jennies soccer (15-1-2) is scheduled to host the No. 8 seed Missouri Western Griffons (5-9-4) in a MIAA Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinal match Sunday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. at the South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg. 
  • The Jennies are coming off a pair of wins last weekend, downing Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Mo., Friday, Oct. 21, 4-1, before shutting out Missouri Southern in Joplin, Mo., Sunday, Oct. 23, 2-0. 
  • Central Missouri clinched its third straight and 13th overall MIAA Women's Soccer Regular Season Championship in Friday's 4-1 triumph over the Griffons on the road. 
  • UCM moved up one spot to No. 4 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches' Division II Coaches' Poll released Tuesday. 
  • Through 18 matches, Julia Kristensen leads the Jennies with 14 goals, including seven game-winning goals, and six assists for 34 points. Madilyn Hamline has nine goals and four assists for 22 points while Caroline Cole has seven goals and five assists for 19 points. Lindsay Edmonds has three goals, and Ashleigh Martin, Alexis Christopherson, Calynn Harbert and Anna Lack each have two goals on the season. Eight different Jennies have scored one goal through 18 contests in 2022. 
  • With 18 matches in the books, Kristensen leads the MIAA in total points and game-winning goals, and ranks second in goals and fourth in assists. Hamline is fourth in the conference in goals, fifth in points and tied for seventh in assists, while Cole is sixth in assists and seventh in both goals and points. 
  • Kristensen leads all of NCAA-II in game-winning goals going into MIAA tournament play and is 11th in total points and 12th in total goals. 
  • In goal for UCM, sophomore Sydney Beck is 15-1-2 with 48 saves, seven shutouts and 15 goals-allowed for a 0.88 goals-against average (GAA) in 1537:38. In the most recent MIAA goalkeeper statistics, she ranks third in GAA and sixth in saves. 
  • The Jennies lead the MIAA through 18 matches in goals (49) and points (127), and are second in assists (29), and are 10th in total goals, 16th in total points and 26th in total assists in the most recent NCAA-II national rankings.
  • Central Missouri is the preseason favorite in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Jennies Top Team in Latest NCAA-II Central Regional Rankings
  • Central Missouri Jennies soccer ranks number one in the most recent NCAA Division II Central Regional Rankings released Wednesday, Oct. 26. 
  • The MIAA Regular Season Champion Jennies sit atop the Central Region with an overall record of 15-1-2. Bemidji State (10-1-5) is second while Minnesota State (12-1-4) rounds out the top-three teams in third. 
  • Emporia State (9-5-4) ranks fourth, followed by Fort Hays State (10-1-7), Central Oklahoma (11-3-4), Northwest Missouri State (12-4-2) and Washburn (11-5-2), wrapping up the top-eight.
  • Minot State (8-2-7) and Augustana (9-6-2) complete the rankings in ninth and 10th, respectively. 
  • The top eight teams in the final regional rankings on Monday, Nov. 7, will qualify for the NCAA Division II women's soccer tournament.
Seven Jennies Take Home All-MIAA Women's Soccer Accolades
  • Jennies soccer team had seven student-athletes earn All-MIAA honors for their performances on the soccer pitch during the 2022 MIAA conference season, the conference office announced Wednesday, Oct. 26.
  • Julia Kristensen and head coach Lewis Theobald took home the conference's top honors. Kristensen was voted both the Offensive Player and Freshman of the Year while Theobald earned Coach of the Year honors.
  • Kristensen (unanimous), Caroline Cole and Lindsay Edmonds were all named First Team All-MIAA while Kloee Grubb, Madilyn Hamline and Andree Orcutt garnered Second Team All-MIAA accolades and Molly Ricker earned All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors.
MIAA Weekly Honors Home Cookin'
  • Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 67-4-1 at the South Recreation Complex. During that span, UCM has surrendered just 52 goals.
  • All-time at the South Recreation Complex, UCM is 207-35-9 under head coach Lewis Theobald and 144-14-8 in overall program history. The Jennies have compiled undefeated home records five times.
Series History
  • Missouri Western: Sunday's MIAA tournament contest against the Griffons will be the 32nd meeting in the all-time series going back to the first meeting in 2005. UCM leads the series, 30-1-0, including a 16-0-0 mark in Warrensburg. Central Missouri has two victories over Missouri Western this season, downing the Griffons in Warrensburg Sept. 16, 3-2, and in St. Joseph Oct. 21, 4-1. UCM and Missouri Western have met just one time in the MIAA tournament, with the Jennies posting a 4-1 triumph over the Griffons in the Championship Match in 2017 -- the year Central Missouri captured the NCAA-II National Championship.
Welcome to the 'Burg! Head Coach Lewis Theobald
Central Missouri women's soccer head coach Lewis Theobald, now in his 15th year, has transformed the Jennies Soccer program into one of the premier programs not only in the MIAA, but in all of NCAA Division II.

The 11-time MIAA and five-time region Coach of the Year has an impressive 271-40-23 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history and is the all-time winningest coach in Jennies soccer history. He brought home the program's first ever National Championship in the 2017 season.

Theobald entered the 2022 season as the winningest active coach in Division II women's soccer with an .843 winning percentage, among coaches with at least five years on the sidelines. He also is the all-time D-II leader among coaches with at least 10 years and is sixth all-time in all NCAA Divisions.  

During his tenure, Theobald has coached 19 All-Americans and 126 All-MIAA honorees.

A 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, Theobald received his bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in physical education.

  • Jennies soccer was voted preseason No. 1 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2022 season.
  • UCM received 121 points and 11 of 12 possible first-place votes in the poll.
On the Horizon
  • If Central Missouri wins its quarterfinal match Sunday, it will advance and host an MIAA Women's Soccer Championship semifinal match Friday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m. at the South Recreation Complex against the winner of the Fort Hays State vs. Central Oklahoma quarterfinal contest.
  • UCM would also host the other semifinal contest Nov. 4 at noon and tournament championship match Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m., regardless of semifinal results, by virtue of being the highest remaining seed.
