WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Central Missouri Mules and Jennies Track & Field is scheduled to host the inaugural Kip and Kirk Outdoor Mule Relays on Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10, on the University of Central Missouri campus.

The meet will primarily be held at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field. Throwing events will be at the field across the street (west of the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center), along with the pole vault, long, and triple jumps.

Running events are slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday with the men's and women's 4x100m relays, and field events are set to start at 1 p.m. on Thursday with the men's and women's javelin, women's and men's hammer throw, and men's and women's pole vault. The men's and women's long jump will also take place on Thursday, beginning approximately at 2 p.m. All remaining field events are scheduled to start at noon on Friday, April 10. The opening day of running events will conclude with the men's and women's 10,000m run around 10:15 p.m. Thursday. 

Running events will resume at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. 

Formerly the Outdoor Mule Relays, the meet has been renamed beginning this year in honor of former longtime UCM Co-Track & Field Head Coaches Kirk Pedersen and Kip Janvrin.

Pedersen was the head coach for the UCM Cross Country program from 1987 to 2025 and served as the distance coach for the Mules & Jennies track & field teams from 2024-25. He retired in June 2025.

Pedersen served as the Co-Head Track & Field Coach alongside Janvrin from 1996 through 2024.

Janvrin served as the Co-Head Coach for the UCM Track & Field program from 1996 to 2024 before retiring in August 2024, but he had been involved with the program since 1988.

Janvrin, Pedersen, and Woolsey helped the Jennies Track & Field Team win the 2015 NCAA-II Indoor and Outdoor National Championships and coached the UCM Mules and Jennies Track & Field programs to numerous MIAA Championships and All-American performances.
