DES MOINES, Iowa – Former longtime University of Central Missouri Co-Track & Field Head Coaches Kip Janvrin and Kirk Pedersen were named to the 2026 Drake Relays Coaches Hall of Fame Induction Class, it was announced on Monday, April 6.
Janvrin and Pedersen helped the Mules and Jennies to 21 Drake Relays titles across a wide spectrum of events in their tenure as Co-Head Coaches at UCM from 1996-2024.
Fourteen Mules and seven Jennies captured Drake Relays Championships under Janvrin and Pedersen. In addition, Janvrin coached Lindsey Lettow when she won the Drake Relays heptathlon as a post-collegian in 2013 and 2014.
During Janvrin and Pedersen's careers in Warrensburg, 26 different student-athletes won a total of 49 NCAA Division II Individual National Championships. The Jennies swept the Division II Indoor and Outdoor National Titles in 2015, and the two programs combined for 30 top 10 finishes at the national championship meets. The Mules won 28 MIAA Championships, and the Jennies captured nine conference crowns.
Janvrin and Pedersen garnered a total of 30 MIAA Coach of the Year honors and received two national Coach of the Year awards in 2015.
UCM Track & Field student-athletes earned 394 Division II All-America recognitions under Janvrin and Pedersen.
Janvrin retired from Central Missouri in August of 2024, and Pedersen retired from UCM in June 2025.
Janvrin and Pedersen will be honored Thursday, April 23, at the annual Drake Relays Hall of Fame luncheon at the Schickler Club in the Knapp Center on the Drake campus. Their induction brings the number of honorees in the Drake Relays Coaches Hall of Fame to 95.
