KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Central Missouri Track & Field swept the MIAA Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honors for the week of March 31 through April 7, as
Grizell Scarlett was voted the Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second straight week, and
Nolan Vancauwemberghe was voted the Outdoor Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
Scarlett, a junior from Kingston, Jamaica, earned her second consecutive and third overall Athlete of the Week accolade after running a provisional, personal best, and school record time of 11.23 in the women's 100m dash prelims at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday, April 5, in Austin, Texas. The time is the fastest in Division II so far this season and helped Scarlett place eighth in the prelims, earning her a spot in the final. She was the lone Division II runner to secure a spot in the final at the Texas Relays.
A freshman from Horni, Belgium, Vancauwemberghe secured his second Athlete of the Week honor of 2025-26 after posting the second-fastest time in both school history and NCAA Division II this season with a personal best and provisional 13.77 in the prelims of the men's 110m hurdles at the Texas Relays on Friday in Austin. Similar to Scarlett, Vancauwemberghe was the lone Division II athlete to advance to the final after placing eighth in the prelims.
UCM Track & Field is scheduled to host the Kip and Kirk Outdoor Mule Relays on Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10, at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field in Warrensburg.
