Jennies Volleyball’s Engel, Fergerson, and Ziesman Named Second Team All-MIAA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jennies volleyball sophomore Elinor Engel, outside hitter Maya Fergerson, and junior Rachel Ziesman earned Second Team All-MIAA honors for their performances on the court during the 2024 season, the conference office announced on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
 
Engel, a native of Shawnee, Kan. earns her second consecutive All-MIAA selection after being named a First Team honoree in 2023. The middle blocker leads the Jens with 367 points (second in the conference) while her 309 kills (sixth in the MIAA) and 80 total blocks are second-most. Elinor has posted double-digit kills in 20 matches this season including a 14-match consecutive streak while collecting a career-best 22 against Drury (Sept. 20) and has recorded six matches with five or more blocks in 2024.

Fergerson, a sophomore outside hitter earns her first All-MIAA selection after leading the team with 314 kills (fourth in the MIAA) averaging 3.57 kills per set (second in the conference) while having the second-most points for the Jens with 338.5. The Independence, Mo. native has double-digit kills in 20 matches this season including three matches with 20 or more highlighted by a career-high 23 against Pittsburg State (Nov. 16) before earning the MIAA's Offensive Athlete of the Week honors this past Monday (Nov. 18).

Ziesman, a native of Shawnee, Kan. earns her second consecutive All-MIAA selection after being named to the First Team in 2023. Rachel leads the team with 101 total blocks (fifth in the MIAA) and 1.06 blocks per set (sixth in the conference) in the front row while posting the third-most points (321.5) and kills (266). Rachel recorded a career-best 20 kills against Pittsburg State (Oct. 11) and has double-digit kills in 11 matches this season is one of two players to start all 25 matches for Central Missouri in 2024.

No. 7 Central Missouri (11-14, 7-9 MIAA) returns to the court on Thursday, Nov. 21, as they take on No. 2 Missouri Western (22-6, 12-4 MIAA) in the 2024 MIAA Volleyball Championship quarterfinals beginning at noon from the St. Joseph Civic Arena in downtown St. Joseph, Mo.
