TOPEKA, Kan. – Fourth-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball saw its 19-game winning streak end abruptly Saturday, April 2, in Topeka, Kan., falling to the Washburn Ichabods, 15-4 in seven innings, in game two of a three-game MIAA series at Falley Field.
The Mules (24-4, 18-1 MIAA) will look to bounce back in the series finale against the Ichabods (22-10, 13-6 MIAA) Sunday, April 3, at 1 p.m.
UCM was held to only four hits in the game, with
Carter Young going 1-for-2 with a double and RBI, and
Garrett Pennington adding a 1-for-3 performance with a double and run batted in, leading Central Missouri at the plate.
Jacob Steele and
Brennen van Breusegen had the Mules other two hits in the contest, both singles.
Central Missouri reliever
Hunter Little (1-1) suffered the setback on the mound after allowing two earned runs on three hits in an inning of work.
Parker Dunn went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, five RBIs and four runs scored, pacing Washburn offensively. The Ichabods had 14 hits in the contest, including four homers.
Washburn starter Casey Steward (3-0) earned the victory, allowing four runs – three earned – on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks in six innings.
