KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- University of Central Missouri 2026 All-American left-handed starting pitcher
Sawyer Allen has signed a professional contract to play for the American Association's Kansas City Monarchs, it was announced on Monday, July 13.
Allen becomes the third Mule starting pitcher on the 2026 NCAA-II Central Regional Championship roster to join the professional ranks in just two days, following fellow starting pitchers
Jack Scott and
Greyson Chappel, who were drafted in the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday, July 12.
A native of Plate City, Mo., Allen went 8-2 on the mound with a 2.37 ERA in 16 appearances in 2026. The left-hander allowed just 23 earned runs on 65 hits with 83 strikeouts and only 24 walks in 87 1/3 innings of work.
He ranked second in the MIAA in ERA, opposing batting average (.205), and strikeouts, and third in innings pitched in 2026.
Allen received All-American recognition from ABCA/Rawlings, D2CCA, and Division 2 Baseball, and was a First Team All-MIAA and All-Central Region (NCBWA, D2CCA, ABCA/Rawlings) honoree.
He is the 90th Mules Baseball student-athlete in program history to either be drafted or sign a professional contract.
