PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Two University of Central Missouri Mules Baseball starting pitchers were drafted on day two of the 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft on Sunday, July 12, in Philadelphia, Pa. Right-hander
Jack Scott was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the seventh round (pick 194) while fellow right-handed starter
Greyson Chappel was taken by the Los Angeles Angels in the 18th-round (pick 529).
Scott and Chappel are the 41st and 42nd Mules drafted since 1965 and the ninth and 10th under 12th season Central Missouri head coach

A junior from Olathe, Kan., Scott made three starts on the mound in 2026 before being sidelined with a season-ending injury. In those three starts, he posted a 3.68 ERA, allowing just three earned runs on six hits with 11 strikeouts and seven walks in 7 1/3 innings pitched.
In his three-year career with Central Missouri, Scott compiled a 9-3 record with a 4.12 ERA and one save. He surrendered 67 earned runs on 155 hits with 133 strikeouts and 53 walks and limited opposing batters to a .270 average in 146 1/3 career innings of work.
Scott was an Honorable Mention All-MIAA starting pitcher in 2025, and was the MIAA Co-Freshman of the Year and a Third Team All-MIAA honoree in 2024.
Chappel, a junior from Shawnee, Kan., posted a 2.91 ERA in 13 appearances and 12 starts in 2026. He gave up just 14 earned runs on 26 hits with 52 strikeouts and 31 walks in 43 1/3 innings of work while limiting opposing hitters to a .179 batting average. Chappel earned Second Team All-MIAA honors and was an ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Central Region selection.
With Scott and Chappel's selections in the 2026 MLB Draft, 89 Mules have either been drafted or signed free-agent contracts in program history.
