  • Third-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer (11-0-1, 5-0 MIAA) is scheduled to host a pair of MIAA matches at home at the South Recreation Complex Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. vs. Emporia State (4-4-4, 2-0-3 MIAA) and Sunday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m. against Washburn (8-2-2, 3-1-1 MIAA). Sunday's match will be Senior Day, and Jennies soccer will honor its seniors in a pre-match ceremony. 
  • The Jennies are coming off a 2-0 week and have won their last nine matches. Central Missouri shut out Rogers State Sept. 30 in Claremore, Okla., 3-0, before defeating Northeastern State, 2-1, in Tahlequah, Okla., Oct. 2. 
  • UCM moved up to No. 3 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches' Division II Coaches' Poll released Tuesday. 
  • Through 12 matches, Julia Kristensen leads the Jennies with eight goals, including four game-winning goals, and four assists for 20 points. She has placed 13 of her 27 shots on goal for a .481 shots on goal percentage. Caroline Cole has six goals and five assists for 17 points while Madilyn Hamline has six goals and three assists for 15 points. Ashleigh Martin, Lindsay Edmonds and Alexis Christopherson each have two goals on the season. Ten different Jennies have scored one goal through 12 contests in 2022. 
  • With 12 matches in the books, Kristensen is second in the MIAA in goals scored and leads the conference in game-winning goals while Cole and Hamline are tied for fourth in goals. In the MIAA assists rankings, Cole is third, Kristensen is tied for fourth and Martin is tied for fifth. Kristensen ranks second in total points, while Cole is fourth and Hamline sixth. 
  • In goal for UCM, sophomore Sydney Beck is 11-0-1 with 32 saves, three shutouts and 10 goals-allowed for a 0.89 goals-against average (GAA) in 1005:53. She's currently fifth in the MIAA in GAA and eighth in saves. 
  • The Jennies lead the MIAA through 12 matches in goals (36), assists (24) and points (96), and are fifth in total goals and total points, and ninth in total assists in the most recent NCAA-II national rankings. 
  • Central Missouri is the preseason favorite in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
MIAA Weekly Honors Home Cookin'
  • Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 66-3-1 at the South Recreation Complex. During that span, UCM has surrendered just 49 goals.
  • All-time at the South Recreation Complex, UCM is 206-34-9 under head coach Lewis Theobald and 143-13-8 in overall program history. The Jennies have compiled undefeated home records five times.
Series History
  • Emporia State: Friday's showdown against the Hornets will mark the 34th meeting in the all-time series going back to the first meeting in 2001. The Jennies lead the series, 25-6-2, but have dropped the last two contests to Emporia State. Last season, UCM fell to ESU in Emporia, Kan., 4-3 in double overtime, before losing to the Hornets in the MIAA Tournament Championship match in Warrensburg, 1-0. UCM's last victory over ESU was in 2019 when the Jennies turned back ESU in Warrensburg, 3-2 in overtime. 
  • Washburn: Sunday's Senior Day contest with the Ichabods will meeting number 31 in the all-time series going back to the inaugural encounter in 2003. Central Missouri leads the series, 24-5-1, and has won the last 15 meetings with Washburn. The Jennies last loss to the Ichabods was a 1-0 setback in Topeka, Kan., in 2009. Last season, UCM narrowly defeated Washburn in Topeka, 2-1 in double overtime. 
Welcome to the 'Burg! Head Coach Lewis Theobald
Central Missouri women's soccer head coach Lewis Theobald, now in his 15th year, has transformed the Jennies Soccer program into one of the premier programs not only in the MIAA, but in all of NCAA Division II.

The 10-time MIAA and five-time region Coach of the Year has an impressive 267-39-22 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history and is the all-time winningest coach in Jennies soccer history. He brought home the program's first ever National Championship in the 2017 season.

Theobald enters the 2022 season as the winningest active coach in Division II women's soccer with an .843 winning percentage, among coaches with at least five years on the sidelines. He also is the all-time D-II leader among coaches with at least 10 years and is sixth all-time in all NCAA Divisions.  

During his tenure, Theobald has coached 19 All-Americans and 119 All-MIAA honorees.

A 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, Theobald received his bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in physical education.

  • Jennies soccer was voted preseason No. 1 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2022 season.
  • UCM received 121 points and 11 of 12 possible first-place votes in the poll.
On the Horizon
The Jennies begin a four-match road trip with a pair of MIAA contests at Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State Oct. 14 and 16 in Kearney, Neb., and Hays, Kan.
