  • Fifth-ranked Central Missouri Jennies soccer (13-1-2, 7-1-1 MIAA) is scheduled to wrap up regular season play with a pair of MIAA matches at Missouri Western (5-7-4, 3-4-2 MIAA) and Missouri Southern (2-12-1, 2-6-1 MIAA) Friday, Oct. 21, and Sunday, Oct. 23. UCM is slated to travel to St. Joseph Friday for a 7 p.m. contest against the Griffons of Missouri Western before heading to Joplin for a 2 p.m. tussle with the Lions of Missouri Southern Sunday. 
  • The Jennies posted a 1-0-1 record last week, shutting out Nebraska Kearney, 3-0, in Kearney, Neb., Oct. 14, prior to playing to a 1-1 draw at No. 23 Fort Hays State Oct. 16, in Hays, Kan.
  • UCM remained No. 5 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches' Division II Coaches' Poll released Tuesday. 
  • Through 16 matches, Julia Kristensen leads the Jennies with nine goals, including five game-winning goals, and six assists for 24 points. She has placed 16 of her 37 shots on goal for a .432 shots on goal percentage. Madilyn Hamline has eight goals and four assists for 20 points while Caroline Cole has seven goals and five assists for 19 points. Lindsay Edmonds has three goals, and Ashleigh Martin, Alexis Christopherson, Calynn Harbert and Anna Lack each have two goals on the season. Eight different Jennies have scored one goal through 16 contests in 2022. 
  • With 16 matches in the books, Kristensen is third in the MIAA in goals scored and leads the conference in game-winning goals while Madilyn Hamline is fourth and Caroline Cole is tied for fifth in goals. In the MIAA assists rankings, Kristensen is third, Cole fifth and Hamline seventh. Kristensen ranks fourth in total points, while Hamline is tied for fifth and Cole is tied for seventh. In the latest NCAA-II national statistics, Kristensen is seventh in all of NCAA-II with her five game-winning goals.
  • In goal for UCM, sophomore Sydney Beck is 13-1-2 with 43 saves, six shutouts and 14 goals-allowed for a 0.93 goals-against average (GAA) in 1357:38. She's currently fifth in the MIAA in GAA.
  • The Jennies lead the MIAA through 16 matches in goals (43) and points (113), and are second in assists (27), and are ninth in total goals, 11th in total points and 18th in total assists in the most recent NCAA-II national rankings.
  • Central Missouri is the preseason favorite in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Jennies in First Set of NCAA-II Central Regional Rankings
  • The Jennies are among 10 teams listed in the first release of the NCAA-II Central Regional Rankings on Wednesday, Oct. 19. 
  • For the inaugural release of the rankings, teams are listed in alphabetical order. Updated rankings will be released each Wednesday until the NCAA-II Women's Soccer Championship Selection Show Monday, Nov. 7. 
  • Eight teams from the Central Region will be selected to compete in the Central Regional of the NCAA Tournament following the conclusion of conference tournaments. The region consists of teams from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, and Great American Conference. Champions from each of the three conference tournaments within the region will receive automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament.

MIAA Weekly Honors Home Cookin'
  • Dating back to the 2016 season, the Jennies are 67-4-1 at the South Recreation Complex. During that span, UCM has surrendered just 52 goals.
  • All-time at the South Recreation Complex, UCM is 207-35-9 under head coach Lewis Theobald and 144-14-8 in overall program history. The Jennies have compiled undefeated home records five times.
Series History
  • Missouri Western: Friday's match at Missouri Western will be the 31st meeting in the all-time series going back to the first meeting in 2005. UCM leads the series, 29-1-0, including a 13-1-0 mark in St. Joseph. The Jennies posted a 3-2 comeback victory over the Griffons earlier this season in Warrensburg on Sept. 16. 
  • Missouri Southern: Sunday's contest at Missouri Southern will mark meeting number 38 in the all-time series dating back to 1999. The Jennies lead the series, 26-8-3, and are 13-3-1 in Joplin, Mo. Central Missouri downed the Lions earlier this season at the South Recreation Complex, 8-2, on Sept. 9. 
Welcome to the 'Burg! Head Coach Lewis Theobald
Central Missouri women's soccer head coach Lewis Theobald, now in his 15th year, has transformed the Jennies Soccer program into one of the premier programs not only in the MIAA, but in all of NCAA Division II.

The 10-time MIAA and five-time region Coach of the Year has an impressive 269-40-23 record. He recorded more wins in his first three seasons than any other coach in school history and is the all-time winningest coach in Jennies soccer history. He brought home the program's first ever National Championship in the 2017 season.

Theobald enters the 2022 season as the winningest active coach in Division II women's soccer with an .843 winning percentage, among coaches with at least five years on the sidelines. He also is the all-time D-II leader among coaches with at least 10 years and is sixth all-time in all NCAA Divisions.  

During his tenure, Theobald has coached 19 All-Americans and 119 All-MIAA honorees.

A 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas, Theobald received his bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in physical education.

Preseason Picks
  • Jennies soccer was voted preseason No. 1 in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll for the 2022 season.
  • UCM received 121 points and 11 of 12 possible first-place votes in the poll.
On the Horizon
The Jennies will compete in the 2022 MIAA Women's Soccer Championship, beginning with the opening round Sunday, Oct. 30, at a to be determined time and location.
