KEARNEY, Neb. – Senior
Mariah Elmore finished sixth, leading the University of Central Missouri Jennies cross country team to a runner up finish at the 2021 MIAA Cross Country Championships Saturday, Oct. 23, at Kearney Country Club.
The Jennies clocked a 6K team time of 1:55:56 for 88 total points and the second-place finish, which marked their highest team finish of the 2021 season.
The host Nebraska Kearney Lopers took the team title with 74 points and a time of 1:55.26, while Central Missouri was second, and Pittsburg State rounded out the top-three in third with 95 points and a time of 1:56:12.
A native of Higginsville, Mo., Elmore posted a 6K time of 22:45.11, finishing just ahead of her sophomore teammate
Risper Mengich, who was seventh at 22:46.69. Junior
Lilian Busienei also compiled a top-10 performance, placing 10th at 22:55.20.
Elmore, Mengich and Busienei all earned First Team All-MIAA accolades for their top-10 finishes.
Tabby Boldt was 22nd at 23:23.61,
Makenzie Stucker was 43rd at 24:05.30, rounding out the Jennies in the top-50 of the 109-runner championship.
Emporia State's Jenna Ramsey won the individual conference title after posting a 6K time of 21:50.54.
Central Missouri is scheduled to compete in the NCAA Central Region Championship Saturday, Nov. 6, in Joplin, Mo. Â
