Mules Host More MIAA Action This Week in the Multi

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Jan. 28, 2020) - Central Missouri Mules Basketball is back in the Multipurpose Building this week with two MIAA match ups. 

Opponents:
Emporia State Hornets (10-8, 4-5 MIAA)
Washburn Ichabods (11-7, 6-3 MIAA)

When:
vs. Emporia State - Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
vs. Washburn - Saturday, Feb. 1 at 3 p.m.

Where:
UCM Multipurpose Building - Warrensburg, Mo.

• Both games will be broadcast on 1450 KOKO, 98.5 The Bar and warrensburgradio.com with Greg Hassler calling the action. 
•The game will also be webcast online through the MIAA's Blue Frame portal at http://www.themiaanetwork.com/ucmmules/. It is a pay-per-view webcast.

Tip Off:
• Central Missouri suffered two MIAA losses on the road last week, falling to Rogers State and Northeastern State. 
• The Mules had four players score in double-figures against the Hillcats and also tied their season-high of 14 three's against the RiverHawks. 
• Emporia State went 1-1 last week. The Hornets first suffered a 71-75 loss to Newman then ended a three-game losing streak with a 92-84 victory over Central Oklahoma. Emporia's 92 points against the Bronchos was their third-highest scoring game of the season, lead by junior Jumah'ri Turner with 32 points. 
• Also taking on Newman and Central Oklahoma, Washburn went undefeated last week defeating the Bronchos 65-51 and the Jets 80-67. The Ichabods six MIAA victories currently ranks fourth in the league, behind Rogers State, Missouri Southern and Northwest Missouri. 
• Central Missouri is currently 6-5 while playing in the Multipurpose Building this season. In their last outing at home the Mules upset No. 10 Missouri Southern 54-52.

Mules Feed: 
• Defensively, Central Missouri ranks second in the MIAA at protecting the three as opponents are shooting just 31.4% form the three-point range. The Mules also rank fourth in the league in scoring defense, allowing opponents to score a low average of 67.4 points per game. 
• Offensively, the Mules are currently averaging the league-low of 67.4 points per game while shooting 42.9% from the field. However from outside the arc, the Mules are shooting 37.6% to rank fifth in the MIAA.
• The Mules also rank third in the league with 7.6 steals per game, lead by Daniel Farris who ranks in the top-10 with 1.5 steals per game.
• Sophomore forward Gaven Pinkley paces Central Missouri averaging 14.1 points and about six rebounds per game. Pinkley has scored in double figures in 15 of the Mules 18 games so far this season. 
• Pinkley ranks fourth in the MIAA with a field goal percentage of 51.7%. 
Kendale Hampton leads the Mules from outside the arc with 1.8 three's per game as he averages 11.1 points per game. 
• Junior guard Farris leads the Mules with 63 assists which ranks in the top-10 of the MIAA. 
• After missing three games due to an ankle injury, freshman DeAndre Sorrells went 4-8 from the field and 4-7 from the three-point range to total 12 points in the Mules last outing against Northeastern State.

Last Time Out
TAHLEQUAH, Mo. (Jan. 25, 2020) - Central Missouri Mules Basketball tied their season-high of 14 three's in a 63-79 loss to Northeastern State on the road. The RiverHawks shot over 50% for the seventh time this season while also winning the rebounding battle 39-19.  
• The Mules finished 24-62 from the field for 38.7% and 14-33 from beyond the arc for 42.4%. 
• The RiverHawks hit 27-52 for 51.9% from inside the arc while finishing 9-19 for 47.4% from the three-point range. 
• Northeastern State also had the defensive advantage over the Mules, winning the rebounding battled 39-19.
• Northeastern scored 32 of the 79 points in the paint, while the Mules totaled just 16 points from inside the paint.
• Over half of the Mules 63 points were scored by players off the bench, lead by Shae Wyatt with a new season-high of 15 points.
Kendale Hampton finished .6-11 from the field and 4-7 from the three to lead the Mules with 16 points. Hampton also shared the team-high for four rebounds.

Previously Against Emporia State
• Wednesday marks the 114th meeting between the Mules and the Hornets.
• Central Missouri has a 73-41 lead in the all-time series that dates back to a 30-26 Mules victory in 2006.
• The Mules have won the last five consecutive meetings against Emporia State with the last result ending in a 73-71 UCM victory in the Multipurpose Building last season. 

Previously Against Washburn
• Washburn has a chance to tie the series history against the Mules on Saturday. 
• Central Missouri currently leads the all-time series 51-50. 
• The Ichabods went 2-0 against the Mules last season, beating them 70-50 in their first meeting and 74-69 in their second. 
• If Washburn is victorious on Saturday, they will join Central Oklahoma and Newman has the only MIAA competitors to post a .500 record against the Mules. 

Individual Milestones
Matt Wilkinson surpassed the 500 career point marker in the first nine games this season. He is now only 12 points away from hitting 600 career points. Wilkinson also surpassed 200 career rebounds this season.
Daniel Farris surpassed the 400 career point marker in the Mules upset over #1 Northwest Missouri. The junior guard also surpassed 200 career rebounds and assists this season.  
• Pinkley surpassed 300 career points in her career-high 23-point performance against Lincoln on Jan. 11. The 6-9 sophomore is also just 23 rebounds away form 200 in his career.
Michael Winger had a career-high shooting performance in UCM's 82-46 win over Central Christian on Nov. 30, 2019. The redshirt junior hit 7-8 from 87.5% from the field and 5-6 for 83.3% from the three point range to record a career-high of 21 points. 
• Winger is 10 points away from 300 career points. 

Scouting the Competition:
Emporia State Hornets
• Posting an overall record of 10-8 and a league record of 4-5, the Hornets currently rank eighth in the MIAA after being selected 10th in the MIAA Preseason Poll. 
• Emporia State has the third-highest scoring offense in the league, scoring an average of 77.2 points per game. Their team field goal percentage of 47.7% and their defensive field goal percentage of 42% also ranks third in the MIAA. 
• Defensively, the Hornets also rank third in the league with an average of 37.5 rebounds per game and second wth an average of 4.1 blocks per contest. 
• Jumah'Ri Turner leads the Hornets defense averaging 14.7 points per game which ranks 10th in the league. The junior scored 32 points on just nine shots in Emporia's 92-84 win over Central Oklahoma Sunday afternoon. 
• Turner also leads the MIAA with a 93.4 free-throw percentage. 
• Brenden Van Dyke leads the Hornets defense with 6.5 boards per game which ranks 10th in the league. The 6-8 junior also ranks second in the MIAA with 1.6 blocks per game. 
• Emporia State is currently 0-4 on the road this season. 

Washburn Ichabods
• After finished 24-8 overall and 15-4 in the MIAA last season, the Ichabods were tabbed third in both the MIAA Preseason Coaches and Preseason Media Polls for the second year in a row.
• The Ichabods are currently 11-7 overall and 6-3 in the league to rank fourth in the MIAA behind Rogers State, Missouri Southern and Northwest Missouri. 
• As a team, Washburn is currently shooting 45.9% from the field and 35% form the three-point range.
• Defensively, the Ichabods rank fourth in the league averaging 36.4 rebounds per game, lead by Jonny Clausing who ranks sixth in the MIAA with 7.4 boards per game.
• Tyler Geiman leads the Ichabods in scoring and ranks sixth in the MIAA with 14.4 point per game. The junior guard also leads the team in assists (6.0) and minutes (34.9), and he is behind Clausing with 5.5 rebounds per game.
• All put one of the Ichabods starters are averaging in double-figures. Jalen Lewis is scoring 13.1 points per game while Drew Maschoff is scoring 11.4 and Clausing is scoring 10.4 points per game.
• Washburn is currently 2-3 while playing on the road this season.

Game Day Promotions:
• Wednesday night is "Pack the Multi" Night. The first 500 UCM students with ID receive a T-shirt and a food/drink voucher courtesy of the UCM President's Office. The student entrance will be on the east side of the Multipurpose Building.
• Wednesday night is also Mascot Night with mascots from local businesses and organizations in attendance to play a mascot game at halftime of the Mules and Hornets.
• UCM Elliott Student Union will have inflatable games open for children on the west end of the arena from the start of the Jennies game until the end of halftime of the Mules game.
• Once again this year, Sodexo Courtside Cafe will be open from halftime of the Jennies game until the start of the Mules game.
• Saturday's game will be Military Appreciation Day celebration. All active and retired military and their family members are admitted free.
