WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- For the second straight game the Central Missouri Mules used a balanced offensive attack as they cruised past the Quincy Hawks 77-59 on Wednesday night at the UCM Multipurpose Building. Thirteen different Mules played in the game, nine different players scored, including five in double figures as UCM improved to 4-1 on the season.

The Mules jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game on a jumper from Matt Webb and three by Dominique Long. The lead was 7-2 with just over five minutes gone by when Quincy (2-2) went on a 7-0 run to grab a 9-7 lead at the 12:31 mark. A jumper by Widgett Washington a trey from Ryan Magdziarz put the Mules back in front at 12-9. 

Chris Babbitt scored an old fashioned three point play at the 10:37 mark to tie the game, but the Mules responded with a 16-2 run to open a 14-point advantage at 28-14 with 6:06 left in the half. Four straight points by the Hawks pulled QU within 10, but an 8-2 run by UCM pushed the lead back to 16 and the Mules went into intermission leading 36-22.

Quincy scored the first four points out of halftime to pull within 10 at the 17:13 mark, but the Mules scored the next 10 points to push the lead to 20 at 46-26 with 15:23 remaining in the game. The Hawks scored four quick points to trim the lead to 16, but a 6-0 spurt by UCM pushed the lead back above 20 at 52-30 at the 12:29 mark. The lead would grow to as many as 25 in the second half and the Mules cruised to the 18-point win.

Central Missouri shot 46 percent, 27-of-59, from the field including 11-of-25 for 44 percent from three-point range. The Mules were 12-of-17 from the free throw line for 71 percent.

Long, Reggie Stallings and D.J. Slifer each had 12 points to lead the Mules. The 12 points is a new career-high for Slifer, who was 4-of-6 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Stallings had a season-high eight rebounds, while Widgett Washington and Lance Beckwith combined for 11 points, 11 assists and no turnovers.

The Mules out-rebounded the Hawks 39-28 and held a 22-14 advantage in points in the paint.

UCM had a season-high 21 assists compared to 11 turnovers. The Mules forced 12 Hawk turnovers in limiting Quincy to 34 percent shooting, 17-of-50 from the floor. QU was 7-of-21 from three-point range for 33 percent and 18-of-23 from the charity stripe for 78 percent.

Tyler Thompson led Quincy with 13 points while Grant Meyer added 11.

The Mules are now 50-4 in the month of November under Kim Anderson.

UCM is back in action next Wednesday, Dec. 5 as they open MIAA play at Fort Hays State at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard live on the UCM Sports Network with Shawn Jones and Greg Hassler on 1450 KOKO and 98.5 The Bar as well as www.warrensburgradio.com. 90.9 The Bridge will pick up the broadcast at game time.
