PITTSBURG, Kan. – University of Central Missouri Jennies Track & Field's
Kristen Jones captured the MIAA Women's Heptathlon Conference Championship to lead UCM Track & Field on the second day of action at the 2026 MIAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday, May 2, at the Russ Jewett Outdoor Track & Field Complex on the Pittsburg State University campus.
Multi-Events
- Jones, a junior from Hallsville, Mo., earned her first MIAA women's heptathlon title after tallying a provisional and personal best score of 5,220 points, which is seventh-best in school history. Jones won the 200m dash (personal best time of 25.19), long jump (personal best 5.92m/19-5 – eighth-best in school history), and javelin (personal best 42.31m/138-10 – seventh-best in school history), finished second in the high jump (personal best 1.60m/5-3), was third in the 100m hurdles (personal best time of 15.16) and 800m run (2:25.67), and eighth in the shot put (9.69m/31-9.50).
- Marah Klover also posted a top 10 finish for the Jennies in the heptathlon, placing sixth with a personal best and provisional 4,601 points.
- Owen Koski finished on the podium in the decathlon for the Mules, placing third with a personal best 6,053 points.
Throws
- Marley Sands secured a podium finish for the Jennies in the women's discus, placing third with a personal best and provisional mark of 48.14m (157-11). Her mark is eighth-best in school history. Stevie Samuels also had a top 10 finish in the discus, finishing eighth with a personal best mark of 43.68m (143-4).
- Landon Mason compiled a top 10 showing in the men's discus, placing 10th with a mark of 49.61m (162-9).
Jumps
- Zachary Proctor finished just off the podium in the men's high jump, placing fourth with a provisional mark of 2.10m (6-10.75). Wyatt Irwin also was in the top 10, finishing eighth with a mark of 2.01m (6-7.25).
Distance
- Brady Maher finished in the top five in the men's 3,000m steeplechase, placing fifth with a provisional and personal best time of 9:08.23, which is ninth-fastest in school history. Sam Mathis also put in a top 10 performance, finishing eighth with a personal best time of 9:14.38.
Prelims
- Nolan Vancauwemberghe, Parker Wormek, and Jentry Acklin all qualified for the men's 110m hurdles final with top nine finishes in the prelims. Vancauwemberghe placed first with a provisional and personal best time of 31.57, which is second-fastest in school history, while Wormek was seventh with a provisional time of 14.21, and Acklin was ninth with a time of 14.49.
- Grizell Scarlett and Emily Meeks both secured spots in the women's 200m dash final with top nine performances in the prelims. Scarlett won the prelim with a provisional time of 23.61, and Meeks was ninth with a time of 24.81.
- Ariel Kerr and Kye Mason both earned a berth into the men's 200m dash final with top-nine finishes in the prelims. Kerr placed seventh with a time of 21.52, while Mason was ninth with a time of 21.83.
- Michenainda Aritus and Chika Bekwunye both secured spots in the women's 100m hurdles final with top nine performances in the prelims. Aritus was fourth with a provisional and personal best time of 13.95, and Bekwunye was sixth with a provisional time of 14.09. Aritus's time of 13.95 is the fifth-fastest in school history.
- All finals are scheduled for Sunday.
The MIAA Outdoor Championships are scheduled to wrap up on Sunday, May 3, in Pittsburg, Kan.
