FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Jennies 4x100m relay broke a school record for the second time this season, leading the UCM Track & Field team at the John McDonnell Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas on Friday, April 24, at John McDonnell Field.
Relays
- The Jennies 4x100m relay of Anayla Waters, Chika Bekwunye, Emily Meeks, and Grizell Scarlett finished fourth out of 15 teams, running a school record and provisional time of 45.30, which ranks in the top 10 in Division II so far this season. The time bested the previous 4x100m record of 45.58 set earlier this season on March 28 at the SBU Invitational.
Sprints/Hurdles
- Grizell Scarlett finished runner-up in the women's 100m dash with a provisional time of 11.31.
- Nolan Vancauwemberghe was the top NCAA Division II performer in the men's 110m hurdles, placing third with a provisional and personal best time of 13.66. His time is the second-fastest in school history.
- Chika Bekwunye placed sixth in the women's 100m hurdles with a provisional time of 13.91.
Jumps
- Zachary Proctor was the top Division II performer in the men's high jump, finishing fourth with a provisional mark of 2.06m (6-9).
- The Jennies went 5-6 in the women's long jump. Michenainda Aritus was fifth with a provisional mark of 6.00m (19-8.25) while Kristen Jones was sixth with a provisional and personal best mark of 5.91m (19-4.75). Jones' mark ties for eighth-best in school history.
- Evan Gosnell posted a top 10 performance in the men's long jump, placing 10th with a mark of 6.93m (22-9).
The Mules and Jennies throwers are scheduled to compete in the ZK Invitational on Saturday, April 25, in Baldwin City, Kan., at Baker University.
