EMPORIA, Kan. – Grizell Scarlett and the Jennies 4x100m relay both secured spots in finals on the opening day of competition for University of Central Missouri Track & Field at the 2026 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships on Thursday, May 21, at Francis G. Welch Stadium on the Emporia State University campus.
Prelims
- The Jennies 4x100m relay of Anayla Waters, Chika Bekwunye, Emily Meeks, and Scarlett posted a time of 45.37 to place sixth in the prelims and secure a spot in the final.
- Scarlett finished fourth in the women's 100m dash prelims with a time of 11.55 to advance to the final.
- All finals are scheduled for Saturday, May 23.
Multi-Events
- With four of seven events completed, Kristen Jones is in 13th place with 3,001 points in the women's heptathlon. Jones placed 11th in the 100m hurdles (personal best 14.97), eighth in the high jump (personal best 1.63m/5-4.25), 16th in the shot put (9.68m/31-9.25), and seventh in the 200m dash (personal best 25.13). Jones will wrap up the heptathlon on Friday with the long jump, javelin, and 800m run.
Sprints/Hurdles
- Ariel Kerr finished 22nd in the men's 100m dash prelims with a time of 10.82 to earn honorable mention All-American recognition.
UCM track & field continues competition in the NCAA-II Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 22, in Emporia, Kan.
