NEW ORLEANS – University of Central Missouri Jennies Track & Field sprinter Grizell Scarlett was named the 2026 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Central Region Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, it was announced on Monday, March 23, by the organization.

Scarlett becomes the fifth Jennies Track & Field student-athlete to earn the honor at least once and the first since Kayla Goodwin in 2023. Erika Kinsey (2015), Erin Alewine (2013, 2014), and Lindsay Lettow (2010, 2011, 2012) also earned the honor during their standout UCM careers.

A junior from Kingston, Jamaica, Scarlett earned two First Team All-America accolades at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 14 in Virginia Beach, Va., after finishing as the National Runner-Up in both the 60m and 200m dashes.

She ran the fastest time in NCAA-II in the 60m dash this season with a time of 7.25 at the Arkansas Qualifier on Feb. 20 in Fayetteville, Ark. Her time tied for ninth-fastest in NCAA-II history and was a UCM school record. She also tallied the second-fastest time in Division II this season in the indoor 200m dash with a time of 23.56 at the MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 27 in Pittsburg, Kan. That time was also a Central Missouri indoor school record.

Scarlett was the first Jennies Track & Field student-athlete to earn First Team All-America accolades in both the 60m and 200m dashes.

She also captured the MIAA Indoor Championship in both events this season.
