KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the third week in a row and the second time this season, freshman
Lazerek Houston was named the MIAA Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday, Feb. 9.
The Lincoln, Neb. native led the Mules to a 74-72 victory over the top-ranked Ichabods inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center this past Saturday afternoon with a game-high 31 points, shooting 10-of-19 from the floor, including a season-best seven triples.
Houston added a game-high seven assists, three rebounds, and two steals for good measure, helping the Mules improve to 18-7 on the year and 9-4 in MIAA play.
So far this season, Lazerek is averaging 21.4 points, 5.28 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 47 percent from the floor and 36 percent from beyond the arc.
The Mules continue MIAA play on Thursday, Feb. 12, as they host the Northeastern State Riverhawks for We Back Pat Night, with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
