TOPEKA, Kan. – The University of Central Missouri Mules and Jennies Track & Field teams had several strong showings on the opening day of action at the Washburn Open Friday, Jan. 30, inside the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility.
Distance
- Cooper Palmer won the men's 5,000m run with a provisional and personal-best time of 14:10.14. That time is the second-fastest in school indoor history.
Throws
- Landon Mason finished runner-up in the men's weight throw with a provisional and personal-best mark of 19.31m (63-04.25). His mark is sixth-best in school history.
Sprints/Hurdles
- Grizell Scarlett placed second in the women's 200m dash with a provisional and indoor personal-best time of 24.32. Her time is the second-fastest in indoor school history.
Jumps
- Karter Kueser finished in the top five in the men's pole vault open division, clearing 4.45m (14-07.25) to place fifth.
Prelims
The second and final day of the Washburn Open is slated to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, in Topeka.
