Jennies Softball’s Serna and Thompson Earn All-MIAA Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Missouri Jennies softball has two players that received All-MIAA honors as announced by the conference office on Tuesday, April 30, in Kansas City.
 
Junior designated player Hayden Serna was named to the All-MIAA second team while freshman Taylor Thompson earned honorable mention accolades. 
 
A native of Osage City, Kan., Serna earns All-MIAA second team honors after finishing the regular season with a team-high .310 batting average with 26 hits overall including 11 for extra bases while driving in nine RBI. Serna's nine doubles on the year and .488 slugging percentage ranked second on the team. She recorded five games with multi-hit performances including a 2-for-3 effort with a double and solo home run in the 3-2 win over Missouri Western (April 26).  
 
A native of Noblesville, Ind., Thompson earned All-MIAA honorable mention accolades playing in all 49 games for the Jens making 48 starts. Taylor compiled a .308 batting average with 44 hits overall, including 22 for extra bases and is one of seven players in the MIAA with double-digit home runs on the year leading the team with 10. Her team-high .615 slugging percentage ranks 10th in conference finishing the regular season with 13 multi-hit games including a 4-for-4 outing with a season-high five RBI and two runs scored against Emporia State (March 23).
 
The eighth ranked Jennies take on No. 9 Missouri Southern in the opening round of the 2024 MIAA Softball Championships on Wednesday, May 1, with first pitch slated for 3:00 p.m. from Gerry Pinkston Stadium in Edmond, Okla.
