MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Central Missouri Jennies (21-11, 5-5 MIAA) split a pair of games with the Northwest Missouri Bearcats (25-8, 5-3 MIAA) winning game one by a final score of 10-1 (5 inn.), before falling 6-2, on Saturday, March 28, from Bearcat Softball Field in Maryville.
The Jens continue the 2026 season on Tuesday, March 31, as they take on the Rockhurst Hawks (24-7, 4-2 MIAA) for a pair of games, with first pitch of game one slated for 3:00 p.m. from Loyola Park Softball Field in Kansas City, Mo.
Game 1: Central Missouri 10, Northwest Missouri 1 (5 inn.)
After
Taylor Thompson hit her ninth homer of the season, which gave the Jens a 2-0 lead after the opening frame,
Bailey Brumley came to the plate with the bases loaded in the second and cleared them (scoring
Kyrsten Moran,
Jadyn Sheffield, and
Anna Lee Kulka) with a double, extending their lead.
Two batters later,
Aly Hageman made it an 8-0 advantage with her second dinger of the year, scoring Brumley and
Malia Bucksath, before
Marisa Johnson made it back-to-back with her team-leading 10
th of the season.
With nobody on and two outs in the top of the third, Brumley blasted a solo shot, which made it 10-0, before the senior tossed her third complete-game effort in the circle, improving to 5-2 on the year, striking out a trio.
This was the first ballgame that Central Missouri has hit four home runs in since March 19, 2024, when the Jens defeated the Lincoln Blue Tigers 8-0 (5 inn.). In the winning effort, starting pitcher Paige Petefish tossed a no-hitter, while Thompson also opened the scoring with a homer.
Game 2: Northwest Missouri 6, Central Missouri 2
In the doubleheader finale, Thompson gave UCM the lead with an RBI double in the first, before
Jenna Little doubled the advantage in the second with her first homer as a Jen, making it 2-0.
The Bearcats responded with five runs in the bottom of the third, adding another run in the fifth, and never relinquished en route to their 25
th victory of the season.
Andi Siebeneck (7-4) suffered the loss in the circle, while Brumley paced the Jens offensively with a multi-hit ballgame.
