TOPEKA, Kan. – University of Central Missouri Mules & Jennies track & field had seven top-three finishes, including two MIAA champions, and broke three school records on the final day of the 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships Sunday, Feb. 25, inside the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility.
In addition, UCM's
Kayla Goodwin won the women's high point award for the second straight year. Goodwin collected a MIAA Indoor Pentathlon Championship while finishing third in the triple jump and as part of the women's 4x400m relay, and sixth in the long jump.
Sprints/Hurdles
- Antonio Lay captured the men's 60m dash championship after running a NCAA-II provisional time of 6.67. That time is seventh-fastest in Division II this season. Ariel Kerr ran a personal-best and provisional 6.82, finishing sixth. His time ties for sixth-fastest in UCM history.
- Parker Wormek placed second in the men's 60m hurdles after running a personal-best and UCM record time of 7.79. His time ranks fourth in NCAA-II this season. Jentry Acklin finished seventh with a time of 8.22.
- Brooklynn Holtman finished runner-up in the women's 200m dash, running a personal-best and school record time of 23.98. Her time is a provisional time and is eight in NCAA-II this season.
- Isaak Rasche ran a personal-best 1:11.88 to place fifth in the men's 600-yard run. Rasche's time is ninth-fastest in UCM indoor history.
- Brian Mitei posted a personal-best time of 1:53.21 to finish seventh in the men's 800m run. Mitei's time ranks sixth-fastest in UCM indoor history.
Jumps/Pole Vault
- Reagan Ulrich and Charlie Garino went 1-3 in the men's pole vault. Ulrich captured the MIAA Indoor Men's Pole Vault Championship after clearing an indoor personal-best and UCM indoor school record height of 5.47m (17-11.25) while Garino was third after clearing a mark of 5.07m (16-07.50). Ulrich's mark ranks third-best in NCAA-II in 2023-24.
- The Jennies finished 3-5-6 in the women's triple jump. Kayla Goodwin was third with a mark of 12.60m (41-04.25), Maggie Klover was fifth at 12.07m (39-07.25) and Simone Green was sixth at 12.04m (39-06.00). Goodwin's mark is seventh in NCAA-II this season.
Throws
- Madison Mears placed eighth in the women's shot put after posting a personal-best 12.88m (42-03.25).
Relays
In the final team standings, the Mules placed fourth with 59 points while the Jennies were sixth with 50 points.
UCM track & field is scheduled to return to action March 8-9 at the NCAA-II Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kan.
