TOPEKA, Kan. – Central Missouri Jennies track & field's Kayla Goodwin won the women's indoor pentathlon, highlighting the opening day of action at the 2024 MIAA Indoor Championships for UCM track & field Friday, Feb. 23, at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility.

Multi-Events

• Goodwin, a redshirt junior from Hamilton, New Zealand, captured her first MIAA Indoor Pentathlon title after compiling 3,890 points – an NCAA-II provisional mark and the fourth-best tally in Division II this season. Goodwin won the high jump (1.67m/5-05.75) and 800m run (2:19.38), finished second in the 60m hurdles (8.90) and long jump (5.55m/18-02.50), and placed fourth in the shot put (10.99m/36-00.75).
• The Jennies' Kristen Jones finished ninth with a personal-best 3,144 points. Jones placed sixth in the long jump (5.41m/17-09.00), eighth in the high jump (1.52m/4-11.75), 11th in the 800m run (2:36.73), and was 12th in both the 60m hurdles (9.58) and shot put (8.37m/27-05.50).
• With four out of seven events of the men's heptathlon complete, the Mules' Logan Grover sits in third place with 2,845 points while Sean Carolan is in 10th with 2,653 points. Grover finished third in the 60m dash (7.16) and fourth in the shot put (12.61m/41-04.50), and was seventh in both the high jump (1.83m/6-0) and long jump (6.61m/21-08.25). Carolan won the shot put (13.02m/42-08.75), was ninth in the 60m dash (7.39) and long jump (6.44m/21-01.50), and 14th in the high jump (1.71m/5-07.25). The final three events (60m hurdles, pole vault, 1,000m run) are scheduled for Saturday morning.

Day two of the MIAA Indoor Championships is slated for Saturday, Feb. 24, in Topeka, Kan.
