AUSTIN, Texas – University of Central Missouri volleyball redshirt senior
Olivia Olson has been selected as a 2023 CSC (College Sport Communicators) Third Team Academic All-American® selection for her efforts on the court and in the classroom, announced on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
Olson, a native of Malone, Wisc. majoring in Kinesiology, earned a 3.94 GPA during the fall semester and was recently tabbed a MIAA Scholar-Athlete and Academic Honor Roll selection.
The 2023 MIAA Player and Setter of the Year is the conference's lone CSC Academic All-American after compiling a conference-best 1,391 assists (10.87 assists per set), adding 334 digs (2.61 digs per set), 146 kills, 98 blocks, and 39 service aces earning AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) and D2CCA (Division Two Conference Commissioners Association) Second Team accolades.
Olson helped the Jens to a 25-8 overall recording capturing the program's 26
th MIAA regular season championship, fourth MIAA Tournament title, and 37
th NCAA Tournament appearance advancing to the Central Region Semifinals.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
