Jennies Volleyball Falls to No. 20 Missouri Western in Four

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The (Receiving Votes) Central Missouri Jennies (17-7, 8-5 MIAA) fell to No. 20 Missouri Western Griffons (19-5, 11-2 MIAA) by a final score of 3-1 (26-24, 26-28, 18-25, 23-25) Friday, Nov. 7, from Dr. Peggy Martin Court, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.     
 
Facing set point in the opening frame down 24-18, Central Missouri captured the set with an 8-0 run highlighted by three kills from middle blocker Rachel Ziesman (11 kills and seven blocks overall) as the Shawnee, Kan. native led the way with six kills on 11 swings (.455 attack percentage), adding four blocks.
 
The Griffons responded with victories in straight sets as they earned their 19th win of the season, highlighted by Katelyn Diani-O'Day's double-double performance.
 
Redshirt sophomore Emma Siron led the Jens offensively with a match-high 16 kills and nine digs, while Parkville, Mo. native Shaye Koski had 12 kills and three blocks on the night. Kaelyn McDonald contributed 11 kills and four blocks, plus junior Lauren Blake had nine kills, a career-best four blocks, and a career-high three digs for good measure.
 
Redshirt senior Grace Winkelmann led Central Missouri defensively in the back row with a match-high 33 digs, adding five assists, while Blue Springs, Mo. native Ragin Corwin collected a career-best 13 digs.
 
The Jens outhit Missouri Western by a margin of .169 to .154 on the night as setter Kayla Baer recorded a match-best 52 assists and 12 digs, plus junior Kirsten Harper had five digs.
 
Central Missouri continues MIAA play Saturday, Nov. 8, hosting the Northwest Missouri Bearcats (9-13, 3-10 MIAA), beginning at 7:00 p.m., from Dr. Peggy Martin Court, inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg.
