FIRST PITCH 
  • No. 4 Jennies softball returns to the diamond for the opening round of the 2023 MIAA Softball Championships on Wednesday, May 3, against No. 5 Washburn Ichabods at 3:00 p.m. from Envista Softball Complex in Topeka, Kan.  
  • UCM heads into play on Wednesday afternoon following a pair of defeats in a doubleheader against the Missouri Western Griffons, by final scores of 4-1 and 6-1 on Saturday, April 29, from Spring Sports Complex in St. Joseph, Mo.   
  • Central Missouri features six players hitting above .300 including Abbey Fischer (.362 avg., 1.055 OPS, 56 R, 8 2B, 6 3B, 7 HR, 30 RBI, .613 SLG%, 16 BB, .442 OB%, 13 SB), MaKenzie Cooper (.351 avg., .970 OPS, 8 R, 5 2B, 4 HR, 26 RBI, .532 SLG%, 14 BB, .438 OB%), Makenzie McAtee (.343 avg., .956 OPS, 29 R, 6 2B, 5 HR, 36 RBI, .490 SLG%, 27 BB, .466 OB%, 1 SB), Ashlyn Cook (.338 avg., .977 OPS, 36 R, 14 2B, 2 3B, 6 HR, 34 RBI, .571 SLG%, 15 BB, .406 OB%, 12 SB), Peyton Corrigan (.324 avg., .717 OPS, 23 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 6 RBI, .366 SLG%, 2 BB, .351 OB%, 10 SB) and Jessica Sader (.311 avg., .787 OPS, 8 R, 10 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 21 RBI, .422 SLG%, 10 BB, .365 OB%).
  • In the circle UCM is led by Andi Siebeneck (2.98 ERA, 9-4, 6 CG, 82.1 IP, 82 H, 40 R, 35 ER and 70 K), Paige Petefish (3.03 ERA, 11-5, 11 CG, 124.2 IP, 124 H, 62 R, 54 ER, and 95 K) and Kyleigh Lay (2.94 ERA, 4-1, 1 SV, 33.1 IP, 31 H, 19 R, 14 ER and 24 K).  
  • As a team, the Jens are hitting .304 (sixth best in the MIAA) with an OB% of .381 (fourth best in the MIAA) and 65 stolen bases (third most in the MIAA) while limiting their opponents to a .267 average. UCM has a team ERA of 3.39 and a fielding percentage of .969 (sixth best in the MIAA).  
  • In the most recent MIAA individual position player statistics, Fischer leads the conference in runs scored (56) and triples (six); Siebeneck leads the MIAA in walks allowed (14), is tied for sixth in runs allowed (40), tied for eight in hits allowed (82) and home runs allowed (six) while tied for ninth in earned runs allowed (35); Petefish is tied for second in walks allowed (17) and McAtee ranks fourth in walks drawn (27).  
 
2023 MIAA POSTSEASON AWARDS  
INDIVIDUAL MILESTONES
  • Seniors Ashlyn Cook (4/1/2023) and Jessica Sader (4/16/2023) became just the fifth and sixth players in program history to surpass 200 career hits for the Jennies.
  • Junior Aubrie McRoberts (4/17/2023) collected career hit number 100 against the Rockhurst Hawks.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Washburn: Wednesday afternoon will mark the 105th all-time meeting between the Jennies and the Ichabods including the 15th time in the MIAA tournament with UCM holding a 8-6 advantage. The last time these teams met in the MIAA Softball Championships was in 2021 when Central Missouri defeated the Ichabods in game three of the quarterfinals with a 4-2 win (5/8/2023) en route to capturing the program's seventh tournament title.     
 
UCM DURING the ANDERSON ERA
  • Susan Anderson enters her 17th season as head coach of the Jennies where she is the second winningest coach in program history with a record of 475-358 (.570).
  • Since her return to Warrensburg in 2006, Anderson has made 13 MIAA tournament appearances, five regional tournament appearances and one Elite Eight appearance.
  • The 2015 Regional Coach of the Year has been named MIAA Coach of the Year three times in her career (twice named as head coach of the Jens) while coaching 17 first team All-MIAA selections, eight All-Region selections, two All-Americans and one MIAA MVP.
