TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – John Prudhom homered twice and drove in six runs as Central Missouri Mules baseball ran past the Northeastern State RiverHawks, 13-6, in the series finale of a three-game MIAA series Monday, March 6, at Rousey Field.
With the win, the Mules clinch the three-game series, winning two games to one, and move to 12-6 overall and 5-1 in the MIAA.
Prudhom, a redshirt senior from Racine, Wis., went 2-for-5 with two homers – a two-run home run and three-run round-tripper, upping his season total to a team-high nine – and had six RBI while
Carter Young was 3-for-3 with a homer, four runs scored and two runs batted in, and
Jack Schark was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, leading UCM at the plate.
Brett Grupe added his first collegiate home run, and
Mason Lowe and
Adamo Stornello compiled a pair of hits.
UCM right-handed reliever
JD McReynolds (3-0) earned the victory on the mound, throwing three hitless innings and surrendering no earned runs with six strikeouts and zero walks.
Drew Miller was 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs and an RBI, pacing the RiverHawks (9-8, 3-3 MIAA) offensively.
NSU starter Korrdell Jiles (1-2) suffered the loss on the rubber after giving up six earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and five walks in four innings.
The Mules are scheduled to return to action with a midweek game at Drury Wednesday, March 8, at 3 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
