Goodwin, Wilson Lead After Day 1 of Multi-Events at ESU Relays

EMPORIA, Kan. – Central Missouri track & field opened its outdoor season with day one of the Emporia State University Relays Thursday, March 23, at Francis G. Welch Stadium.

  • In the heptathlon, Kayla Goodwin leads with 3,133 points through four events while Claire Luallen is second with 2,959 points and Cate Cooper is 11th with 1,887 points. Goodwin won all her events Thursday (100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m dash) while Luallen finished second in the 100m hurdles, high jump and shot put and fourth in the 200m dash. The final three events of the heptathlon (long jump, javelin and 800m run) are scheduled for Friday.
  • Vincent Wilson leads and Clay Carbajal is in second through five events in the decathlon. Wilson has 3,464 points after winning the high jump, finishing second in the 400m dash and third in the shot put while Carbajal has 3,440 points after placing first in the 400m dash, second in the shot put and third in the high jump. The decathlon will conclude Friday with the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500m run.
Friday action is slated to begin at 10 a.m. in Emporia, Kan.
