WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Sixth-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball saw its 2022 season come to an end after falling to No. 13-ranked Augustana, 9-5, in the final game of the NCAA-II Central Regional Sunday, May 22, at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field.
The Mules end their season with an overall record of 46-9 and as both the MIAA Regular Season and Postseason Tournament Champions. The regular season title was the 28th all-time and the postseason tournament crown marked the fourth straight and 15th overall for Central Missouri baseball.
UCM posted at least 40 wins in a season for the 21st time in program history.
Garrett Pennington went a perfect 3-for-3 with his 11th homer of the season and a double while
Sam Tatum collected a pair of hits, pacing Central Missouri at the plate in the game.
UCM right-handed starter
Collin Jones (9-2) took the setback on the mound after giving up six earned runs and one unearned run on five hits with two strikeouts in two innings.
Carter Howell, Will Olson, Luke Ballweg and Drey Dirksen each homered, leading the Vikings (47-11-1) at the plate.
Augie starter Tanner Brown (9-1) earned the victory on the rubber, giving up five earned runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings while Seth Miller secured his fourth save of 2022 after throwing 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts.
