EDMOND, Okla. – Harrison Schnurbusch homered twice, and
Isaiah Pani and
Sam Tatum each homered once as No. 1-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball took down Central Oklahoma, 19-4 in seven innings, Saturday, April 23, at Wendell Simmons Field in the final game of a three-game MIAA series.
The Mules (34-6, 27-3 MIAA) are scheduled to wrap up regular season play with a three-game MIAA series at Fort Hays State April 29-May 1 in Hays, Kan.
Schnurbusch went 3-for-4 with his two home runs and drove in six runs while Pani added a 4-for-5 performance, including a homer, while posting five RBIs, and Tatum was 3-for-4 with a home run and double, going along with two RBIs, leading Central Missouri at the plate.
The two round-trippers for Schnurbusch were his second and third of the season, while Pani's home run marked his third of 2022, and Tatum's long ball was his second of the season.
Michael Chrisman and
John Prudhom each went 3-for-5 with doubles, and
Jack Schark (triple) and
Garrett Pennington (double) also compiled extra-base hits in the win.
UCM reliever
Tyler Rardin (5-0) earned the victory on the mound, allowing no earned runs on just two hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 2 1/3 innings.
The Mules scored at least one run in every inning except the second, including five runs in the top of the first and top of the fifth.
For the game, Central Missouri outhit Central Oklahoma (26-18, 18-12 MIAA), 20-6.
Garrett Takamatsu went 1-for-3 with a homer and two runs batted in, and Noah Olson and Kaleb Glass were each 2-for-3, pacing the Bronchos offensively.
UCO starter Chase Lorg (2-4) suffered the setback on the rubber, giving up eight earned runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts and one walk in 2 2/3 innings.
