EDMOND, Okla. – Top-ranked Central Missouri Mules baseball dropped its first series of the 2022 season after falling to the Central Oklahoma Bronchos, 11-10, in game two of a three-game MIAA series Friday, April 22, at Wendell Simmons Field.
The Mules (33-6, 26-3 MIAA) will look the get back in the win column in the series finale against the Bronchos (26-17, 18-11 MIAA) at noon Saturday, April 23.
Garrett Pennington went a perfect 3-of-3 with his first two home runs of the season and a double while driving in four runs, and
Brennen van Breusegen went 2-for-4 with his 10th home run of 2022 and a pair of RBIs, leading Central Missouri at the plate.

Max Abramovich (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound after allowing six earned runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in two innings.
Central Missouri jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first on two-run homers from van Breusegen and Pennington and an RBI single off the bat of
Jack Schark, only to give up 11 runs in the next three innings to fall behind 11-5.
The Mules cut the deficit to one run with two runs in the fifth and three in the seventh and had the tying run on base with two outs in the top of the ninth but could not complete the comeback.
Clayton Peterson and Trevor Stevens both went 3-for-4 with doubles, while Noah Olson went 2-for-4 with a double and drove in four runs, pacing Central Oklahoma in the batter's box.
Tucker Elliott (5-3) earned the victory for UCO after surrendering seven earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and four walks in five innings. Beaux Bonvillain tallied the save for the Bronchos, tossing three innings and giving up one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
