WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Central Missouri Jennies softball dropped an MIAA doubleheader to the Washburn Ichadbods Saturday, March 26, at Jennies Field at the South Recreation Complex, falling in game one, 10-2, before losing game two in 12 innings, 5-3.
The Jennies (8-19, 2-4 MIAA) are slated to host Emporia State in an MIAA twin bill Sunday, March 27, at noon in Warrensburg.
Game 1: Washburn 10, Central Missouri 2
In UCM's 10-2 setback in game one,
Abbey Fischer went 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI, leading Central Missouri at the plate.
Kyleigh Lay (4-5) took the loss in the circle for the Jennies, giving up five earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts and no walks in 4 2/3 innings.
Ashton Friend went 2-for-3 with a homer and three runs driven in, leading the Ichabods offensively in the opener.
Washburn starter Jaycee Ginter (16-3) earned the victory after allowing two earned runs on seven hits with eight Ks and zero walks in a full seven innings of work.
Game 2: Washburn 5, Central Missouri 3
In Central Missouri's 5-3 loss in 12 innings in the nightcap, Kimi Patterson hit what proved to be the game-winning double for Washburn in the top of the 12th inning.
Peyton Corrigan was 3-for-4 while
Abby Allnutt went 2-for-5 with a double, pacing the Jennies in game two.
Kyleigh Lay (4-6) suffered the loss in the circle for UCM, allowing three runs -- one earned -- on three hits with five strikeouts and a pair of walks in 6 2/3 innings of relief.
Patterson went 3-for-6 with her double and a pair of RBIs, and Marritt Mead went 4-for-6 with a double, leading Washburn (24-11, 6-2 MIAA) offensively in game two.
Jaycee Ginter (17-3) picked up the victory in the second contest, throwing 6 2/3 innings in relief and surrendering on earned run on six hits with 10 Ks and zero walks.
