PITTSBURG, Kan. – Ashlan Burton,
Lucy Steinmeyer and
Madi Wulfekotter each set school records to highlight Central Missouri Mules and Jennies track and field on the final day of the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic Saturday, Feb. 12, inside the Robert W. Plaster Center.
New Records
- Burton set a new Jennies indoor record and won the shot put with a provisional and personal best throw of 16.24m (53-03.50) on her final attempt. Her mark ranks second-best in NCAA-II in 2021-22.
- Steinmeyer posted a Jennies indoor record-breaking time of 55.30 in a runner-up showing in the women's 400-meter dash. Her 55.30 is also an NCAA-II provisional qualifier, personal best, and ranks fifth in NCAA Division II.
- Wulfekotter cleared a Jennies indoor record-breaking height of 4.26m (13-11.75) as she won the pole vault. Her mark leads NCAA-II this season and is a provisional qualifier and personal best.
Other Meet Highlights
Jumps/Pole Vault
- Jack Hodge finished fourth to lead the Mules in the men's pole vault, clearing an indoor personal best and provisional qualifying height of 5.02m (16-05.50).
- Kayla Goodwin and Camryn Holloman both recorded top-five finishes in the women's triple jump. Goodwin finished second with a provisional mark of 12.26m (40-02.75) while Holloman was fourth with a provisional and personal best distance of 11.98m (39-03.75).
- Christopher Goodwin finished third in the men's triple jump for the Mules, posting a provisional mark of 14.82m (48-07.50).
Throws
- Addison Snowball recorded a provisional mark of 16.55m (54-03.75) in an eighth-place finish in the men's shot put.
Sprints/Hurdles
- Antonio Lay placed fourth in the men's 60-meter dash with a provisional time of 6.75. His time is tied for third-fastest in program history.
- Jathan Deberry finished fifth in the men's 60-meter hurdles, clocking a provisional mark of 8.17.
- Jana Shawver placed second in the women's 800-meter run, posting a provisional time of 2:10.61. Her time is also a personal best and ranks third-best all-time for the Jennies.
Relays
- Both the Mules and Jennies 4x400-meter relay teams clocked provisional times at the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic. The Jennies team consisting of Alex Foote, Shawver, Laia Gonzalez and Steinmeyer placed fourth at 3:47.42, while the Mules team of Trey Miller, Derek Nugent, Lay and Michael James finished third at 3:14.42. The Jennies time ranks fourth-best in school history.
UCM track and field is slated to participate in the Arkansas Qualifier Feb. 18 in Fayetteville, Ark., before heading to the MIAA Indoor Championships Feb. 25-27 in Maryville, Mo.
