TOPEKA, Kan. (April 17, 2021) - Central Missouri Jennies Volleyball couldn't get past Northwest Missouri in the 2021 Spring Volleyball Tournament. The Jennies were swept by the Bearcats 25-15, 26-24, 25-18.
The Jennies had early leads in all three sets, but couldn't couldn't hold off the Bearcats who also defeated UCM earlier in the season. The Jens got on top 7-4 in set one and were tied at 13-13. That's when the Bearcats rattled off 11 of the next 12 points to win game one 25-15.
Both teams went back and forth at the start of set two. With the score tied at 12, UCM seemed to take control scoring six straight, including getting three service aces from
Audrey Fisher. But the Bearcats came right back scoring six straight of their own to re-tie at 18. The Jennies got down to set point, 24-22, and rallied to tie, but Northwest secured the final two points for a 26-24 set win.
Central Missouri came out of the gates in set three scoring the first three points. Northwest answered with three straight of their own and the two teams battled for the upper hand, still tied at 13. Another 6-0 Bearcat run put Northwest up for good as they went on to win 25-18.
Following the tournament,
Audrey Fisher and
Kersti Nix were named to the All-Tournament Team.Â
The spring season is not over yet for the Jennies. They'll play two games next week, a home-and-home against Missouri Western. The Jennies host first Thursday, April 22 and will honor their outgoing seniors.Â
