USTFCCCA Lists 2020 Indoor All-Americans

NEW ORLEANS (May 26, 2020) - The United States Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) amended their bylaws to announce the 2020 Indoor Track and Field All-Americans. Typically, All-American status is earned based on placement at the national meet. Since the 2020 national meet was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the USTFCCCA decided to recognize all student-athletes set to compete at the national meet as All-Americans.

For Central Missouri this means that six Mules and three Jennies are 2020 All-Americans. Nathan Cummings is the only student-athlete to earn two as he was scheduled to compete in the shot put and the weight throw. Also earning USTFCCCA All-American awards for the Mules are Christopher Goodwin in the long jump, Dalton Lewallen in the shot put, Trey Miller in the heptathlon and Vincent Hobbie and Jan Jansky in the pole vault. Jennies named All-American are Cassie Jennings in the pole vault, Ashlan Burton in the shot put and Hannah VanBuskirk in the pentathlon.

Ashlan Burton - Shot Put
This is Burton's second straight indoor All-American award. She finished sixth last year after throwing 51-1.5. Burton was the 2019 MIAA Champion and set a new meet record throwing 52-6.5 which is second all-time at UCM. This year, Burton's best throw of 51-3.75 has her third heading into the meet.

Nathan Cummings - Shot Put, Weight Throw
Cummings was an All-American in the shot put last year placing fifth. He's also an All-American in the shot outdoors from 2017. Cummings is the UCM record holder in the shot put indoors and has competed in a total of five national championship meets. He was set to throw the weight at the national meet for the first time in his career. He set a new personal-best at the MIAA Championships which got him into the meet, throwing 62-10. Heading into the meet, Cummings is ranked sixth in the shot put and 16th in weight throw. This is Cummings' third All-American award in the shot put and first in the weight throw.

Christopher Goodwin - Long Jump
This would have been Goodwin's fourth time entering the long jump at the national meet and his third straight indoors. It is his first career All-American award. Goodwin was 10th indoors a year ago and ninth outdoors. This year, Goodwin was ranked 13th entering the competition having jumped a personal-best 24-4.25 at the MIAA Championships which is sixth all-time indoors at UCM.

Vincent Hobbie - Pole Vault
Hobbie earns his third straight pole vault All-American award. Hobbie won the pole vault at the indoor championships a year ago jumping 17-7 which is tied for second indoors at UCM. He was also the runner-up outdoors in 2019. This year, Hobbie's best jump came at the MIAA Championships where he cleared 17-3.5. That mark ties him for second in the nation.

Jan Jansky - Pole Vault
This is the third All-American to Jansky's credit. Both Hobbie and Jansky were tied for second in Division II heading into the national meet after they both jumped 17-3.5 at the MIAA Championships. This was to be the fourth national meet Jansky will be competing in and his third indoors. Jansky's jump at the MIAA Championships is a new indoor personal-best which is fifth all-time at Central Missouri.

Cassie Jennings - Pole Vault
Jennings had a breakout year setting the new UCM indoor record on multiple occasions and now earns her first All-American award. She's jumped 13-3.5 this season, the highest ever indoors by a Jennie and that mark had her seeded fifth in the meet.

Dalton Lewallen - Shot Put
Lewallen now has back-to-back All-American awards in this event. At last year's indoor championship he threw 59-0.75 which is his indoor personal-best and ranks fifth at UCM. This was to be his third straight NCAA appearance in the shot put. He was ninth heading into the meet with a season-best throw of 58-6.75 which came at the MIAA Championships.

Trey Miller - Heptathlon
Trey Miller is 2-2 on All-American awards in the heptathlon. The sophomore finished sixth in this event last year as a freshman and was an automatic qualifier for 2020. Miller scored 5488 points at the MIAA Championships to win the meet with a new MIAA record score.

Hannah VanBuskirk - Pentathlon
VanBuskirk also set a PR in the multi-events at the MIAA Championship. She scored 3604 to place fourth overall which is 10th at UCM. This was the third national championship for VanBuskirk, a two-time All-American. Both of her previous All-American awards have come in the open high jump and this is her first All-American award in the pentathlon.
