WARRENSBURG, Mo. (May 8, 2019) - Central Missouri men's basketball coach
Doug Karleskint has announced the signing of Kendale Hampton to a Grant-in-Aid.
Â
Hampton, a native of Columbia, S.C., comes to the Mules after spending the 2018-19 season as a key reserve at Division I Youngstown State University.
Â
"We are really excited to have Kendale on board," said Karleskint. "He brings us some needed scoring ability on the wing. He has a ton of experience playing against a high level of competition not just in Division I but in junior college as well."
Â
Hampton played in 28 games for the Penguins this past season, averaging 5.9 points per game while shooting 37.6 percent from three-point range. His best performances included a 15-point outing at Pittsburgh, 21 points against Robert Morris, and a season-high 32 points in a win over Columbia.
Â
Prior to playing at YSU, Hampton starred at Garden City (Kan.) Community College for Coach Brady Trenkle. During the 2017-18 season, Hampton notched double figures 25 times for the Broncbusters, who won 21 games with Hampton in the lineup. He averaged 13.7 points per game and made 81 three-pointers on his way to being named All-Conference.
Â
"Kendale has the ability to put the ball in the basket from all over the floor," said Karleskint. "He is a high-level shooter who can get hot from three, but he can also put the ball on the floor. He's a good athlete who can make a lot of things happen not just offensively but defensively as well. He's really versatile, and he has the opportunity to help us immediately on the perimeter."
Â
The 6-3 guard will have one season of eligibility for the Mules.
