Mules First In Final Central Region Rankings

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (May 8, 2019) - The NCAA today came out with their third and final set of Central Region rankings this afternoon. For the third straight week, the Mules come in at number one, sitting atop the rankings.

This is the final set of rankings before the NCAA Selection Show Sunday, May 12.

Central Missouri is 34-13 on the season and went 24-9 in the MIAA, winning their 26th regular season conference championship.

The top eight teams from the MIAA, Northern Sun and Great American Conferences advance to play in the Central Region Tournament. The format will be different this season with the top-two seeds each hosting a sub-regional followed by a best two-of-three mini tournament to determine the regional champion.

The Mules are one of four MIAA teams in the rankings along with Missouri Southern who ranks sixth, Central Oklahoma seventh and Pittsburg State eighth.

Behind the Mules are two teams from the Northern Sun, Augustana and Minnesota State. Arkansas-Monticello from the GAC ranks fourth and the Northern Sun's St. Cloud State rounds out the top-five. Oklahoma Baptist is ranked ninth, but they have already secured the GAC automatic qualifier by winning the GAC Tournament earlier in the week. Southern Arkansas ranks 10th.

This weekend is the MIAA Tournament. The Mules will go for their 23rd MIAA Tournament Championship. As the number one seed, they take on No. 8 Missouri Western in round one. All games will be hosted this weekend in Pittsburg, Kan. by Pittsburg State.
