UCMTF Strives At Home

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (April 19, 2019) - UCM Track and Field had a strong showing at the Mule Relays hosted at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field earlier today. 

Throws
In the hammer throw,  Ashlan Burton led the Jennies in fifth place with her provisional qualifying throw of 176-02. Baylie Bellin was next up placing sixth with a new personal best and provisional qualifying mark of 175-07. Burton finished fourth in the discus throw with her toss of 148-04 and second in the shot put with a toss of 49-10.00.

For the Mules, Nathan Liby led the hammer throw with another big personal best and an automatic qualifying mark of 222-09 for first place. Nathan Cummings finished eighth with his throw of 194-09. Cummings led in the discus throw with 167-01 to place third. In the shot put, Dalton Lewallen was the top-finisher placing third with a toss of  58-06.50. Cummings was next up with mark of 54-10.25, for sixth place. 

In the javelin throw, Hannah Becker was the top finisher with a throw 104-11, to place 13th. For the Mules, Cain Fowles was the top-finisher placing seventh with his toss of 175-05. Calaway Scholes was next up for the Mules, placing 10th with 159-03.

Jumps
In the high jump, Haley Lindenbusch was the Jennies top-finisher placing second after clearing 5-04.50. For the Mules, Jesse Miller was the top-finisher clearing 6-11.00 to place first. Cade Conley finished sixth on the day after clearing 6-03.25.

The Mules took first through third place in the long jump. Trey Miller took first with his provisional mark of 24-03.50. Christopher Goodwin took second with the provisional mark of 24-02.50, and Brent Alumbaugh rounded out the top-three with his leap of 23-08.00. In the triple jump, Jeremi Barnes took first place with a provisional mark of 49-04.25, Goodwin finished the event in fourth place with his jump of 45-04.50.

Audrey Fisher was the Jens sole participant in the triple jump. Fisher finished second with a mark of 38-11.75. 

Vincent Hobbie was the Mules top-finisher in the pole vault placing second clearing 17-00.75. Jan Jansky was right behind him finishing third after his mark of 16-06.75. For the Jennies, Cassie Jennings was the top finisher clearing 12-04.00 for third place. Callie Ruffener finished fourth on the day with a mark of 11-10.00.

Distance
Cynthia Togom was the Jens top finisher in the 1500m run. Togom finished first with a time of  4:38.94. Kimberlee Sewester (5:05.31) and Alexis Almloff (5:05.60) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Aaron Westhoff was the Mules top-finisher in the 1500m run, running a time of 4:11.40, for eighth, while Alex Phillips finished 10th ( 4:11.88). 

In the 5000m run, Claire Myers was the top finished running a time of 19:16.43 to finish seventh. Sami Skibell was next up in ninth place crossing the line at 19:23.13. For the Mules, Ryan Skopec was the top-finisher placing 15th with a time of 15:57.63.

Amy Marx took the crown in the 3000m steeplechase. Marx finished first with a new personal best time of 11:19.79. For the Mules, Isaac Calvert was the top-finisher placing fourth with a time of  9:57.53.

Sprints/ Hurdles/ Relays
The quartet of Jyl Stewart, Grace Wormek, Destiney Nash, and Kacey Kohlhof placed second in the 4x100m relay with a time of 47.59. For the Mules, the relay of Zion Perry, Andre Williams, Blake Johnson, and Akeemo Minott finished with a time of 41.95 to place first overall. 

In the 100m Hurdles, Chris Donald had a strong day placing third with a time of 14.93. Brett Shaffer finished seventh overall after crossing the line at 18.88. 

Alexandria Foote' led the Jens in the 400m dash. Foote' ran a time of 59.31 to place seventh overall. Andre Williams led the Mules in the race placing fifth with a new personal best of 49.40.

In the 100m dash, two Mules took gold and silver. Zion Perry took the crown in the dash with a new personal best time of 10.84. Akeemo Minott took second in the race crossing the line at 10.87.

Emily Thole competed in the 800m run for the Jens and finished fourth with the time of 2:16.76. Mariah Elmore was not far behind finishing with a time of 2:18.02 to place fifth.  For the Mules, Derek Nugent was the top finisher with a new personal time of 1:54.43, to place fourth.

Chris Donald took first place in the 400mHurdles with a new personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 52.23. Matt Scaletty was next up placing fourth with a time of 54.65. Brett Shaffer finished sixth on the day with a time of   56.11.

In the 200m dash, Jyl Stewart was the Jennies top finisher placing eighth with a time of 26.54.  For the Mules, Zion Perry was the top-finisher placing third with a time of 22.28. Blake Johnson was next up running a time of  22.67 to finish eighth.

The team will have a busy week next week at the historic Drake Relays April 25-27, and at the PSU Wendy's Tune Up Meet in Pittsburg, Kan. April 26.
