No. 16 Jennies shut out Lindenwood

No. 16 Central Missouri (7-5, 4-0 MIAA) swept Lindenwood (4-8, 1-3 MIAA) 3-0 on their home court Tuesday night. The Jennies held the Lions under 20 points in each set, 25-16, 25-12, 25-15. As a team, the Jens hit .344, with 38 kills, three aces and seven blocks. Central Missouri and Central Oklahoma are the only teams in the MIAA that are still undefeated in conference play.

Lindenwood scored the first few points of the first set, but did not gain a significant lead, and the Jens were able to tie the score at 5-5. Central Missouri went on to take a lead for the rest of the set, scoring two and three points to every singular point the Lions earned. Lindenwood did not have a lead over the Jennies at all in the second set, Central Missouri started with six consecutive points. The Jennies reached 10 points, while holding the Lions to only one point in the set. The Jens took a 2-0 lead in the match, after two kills to finish set two. The third set was the closest set of the match. Lindenwood kept the score close through the first ten points, but the Jens won four in a row to follow, taking a 10-6 lead. The Jennies kept the four point lead through the set, Lauren Dudgeon earned the final point of the match with a kill.

The Jennies offense was well-balanced in the match. Haley Thompson and Maddie Jones had a team-high seven kills each, while Carly Sojka and Becca Blaise had one less than the pair at six kills in the match. Jessica McDougald had five kills through three sets, and Kourtney Thompson had four. K. Thompson also had 27 assists. H. Thompson and Blaise each had four blocks. Annie Reilly served two aces, with 20 digs. Shelby Winkelmann was the only other Jennie to record an ace, she also had six digs in the match. Mackenzie Harding checked into the second set, and had a pair of kills.

The Jennies will look to keep their perfect conference record through two more matches this week. First up is Emporia State in Emporia, Kan. Followed by No. 8 Washburn in Topeka, Kan.
