No. 5 Central Missouri Jennies (3-3) dropped back-to-back matches on Friday at the Colorado Premier Challenge. Both No. 4 BYU-Hawaii and Colorado Mesa took the match in straight sets.

The Jennies battled through their first match of the tournament against BYU-Hawaii. The first set was close, neither team scored more than three points in a row to start the match. The Jens had a small lead until the Seasiders caught up at 8-8, and scored eight more points to follow to take a 16-8 lead. The Jennies were never able to close the gap, and BYU-Hawaii won the set at 25-17. The second set was closer than the first, with eight tie scores and seven lead changes, with the final tie score at 16-16. The Seasiders scored two points for every one Central Missouri earned, and finished the second set at 25-21. The only lead that the Jennies had in the third set was the first point of the match. BYU-Hawaii had at least two points over Central Missouri for the remainder of the set. The third set was finished at 25-20, and BYU-Hawaii preserved their perfect record.

Haley Thompson was the Jennies leading scorer for the fifth match straight. She had 10 kills and three blocks in the match. Carly Sojka had eight kills and 10 digs, with a block and an ace. Jessica McDougald had five kills and three blocks. Kourtney Thompson also had five kills, with 28 assists, and four blocks. Shelby Winkelmann had four kills, seven digs, and a block, with a .900 reception percentage. Annie Reilly had 20 digs, and did not commit a reception error in three sets. As a team, the Jennies had eight blocks, and 36 kill, with a .107 hit percentage.

The Jennies fell to Colorado Mesa at 25-22 in every set. Colorado Mesa had a lead for most of the match. The first set was taken by Mavericks with ease, while the second set was a closer contest. Both teams had a lead in the second set, Colorado Mesa tied the Jennies at 19-19 for the sixth tie score of the set. Central Missouri was able to earn two more points in the set, before the Mavericks had two consecutive kills to finish the set. In the third, Colorado Mesa earned four points in a row after the Jennies caught them at 4-4. Central Missouri tied the score for the final time at 10-10, but were unable to gain a lead, and the Mavericks dealt the Jennies their second three-set loss of the day.

Sojka and K. Thompson both had their second double-double of the season against Colorado Mesa. Sojka had a team-high 11 kills and 10 digs. She also had four blocks and did not commit a reception error off 28 attempts. K. Thompson had 30 assists and 11 digs in the match, with three kills and a block. H. Thompson and McDougald each had eight kills and five blocks. Winkelmann had five kills, two blocks, and an ace with nine digs in two sets. Becca Blaise had an ace and eight digs in the match. Reilly had 17 digs.

The Jennies will play at 1:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. tomorrow. They will face Florida Southern and the host team Metro State.
