QUICK HITS
• The Mules tip-off the 2013-14 regular season with a pair of in-region games at the Sanford Pentagon Basketball Showcase. UCM opens the season on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. against Northern State. The Mules will play Augustana on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. as well.
• Central Missouri enters the season as the No. 3 pick in both the MIAA Preseason Coaches' and Media Polls.
• The Mules were 22-8 a season ago, the sixth 20-win season under Kim Anderson and the 22nd in school history.
• Last season was the 10th straight season of at least 18 wins for UCM, the longest active streak in the MIAA. The longest streak in league history is 11 seasons, held by Northwest Missouri from 1997-2008.
• Central Missouri finished 13-5 in MIAA play last year and captured a share of the MIAA regular season championship for the second straight season. It was the fifth conference crown under Anderson and 23rd in school history.
• The Mules projected starting line-up consists of two players who played significant minutes for UCM last season with Ryan Magdziarz and Jon Gilliam. Daylen Robinson averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 assists per game for Texas Tech last season. Ryan Donald is in his first season with the Mules after averaging 12.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game at Shawnee Community College last season. Brennen Hughes averaged 10 points and nearly eight rebounds per game last season at Moberly Community College.
• The Mules lost nearly 75 percent of their scoring and 77 percent of the rebounding from last year's team. Leading returning scorer and rebounder Charles Hammork will sit out the first semester and return for the second semester.

MORE QUICK HITS
• UCM returns one all-MIAA performer from a season ago. Charles Hammork was an honorable mention All-MIAA pick last season after averaging 11.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He was also an MIAA Tournament All-Tournament Team selection in helping the Mules to the conference tournament title. Hammork only has one semester of eligibility remaining so he will sit out first semester and rejoin the team in the second semester.
• Three of the top nine single-season scoring leaders in UCM history have come during the 11-year tenure of head coach Kim Anderson.

SERIES HISTORY
• This will be the first ever meeting between Central Missouri and Northern State.
• This will be the sixth all-time meeting between the Mules and Augustana. Central Missouri holds a 3-2 lead in the all-time series.
• The last meeting between the two schools was a 77-67 Mules win in Warrensburg during the 1975-76 season.
• The teams met five times beginning in the 1973-74 season and ending in the 1975-76 season.
• The teams split home and home series in the 1974-75 and 1975-76 seasons with each team winning on their own home floor.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES
• Northern State went 0-1 in the exhibition season, dropping an 89-61 decision at Creighton back on Nov. 1.
• The Wolves are led by fourth-year head coach Paul Sather. He has compiled a 45-38 record in his first three seasons at NSU and a 139-100 career mark in eight seasons as a head coach. He was the head coach at Black Hills State for four years, prior to returning to his alma mater.
• The Wolves return one starter from last year's team that went 20-11 overall and finished tied for fifth in the Northern Sun with a 14-8 conference mark.
• Sophomore guard Skye Warwick led NSU with nine points in the game against Creighton.
• Mack Arvidson and Warwick are the leading returner scorers for the Wolves at 5.8 and 5.4 points per game, respectively.

SCOUTING THE VIKINGS
• Augustana went 1-2 in exhibition play this season. The Vikings beat St. Olaf, 83-71, and lost to Arizona, 84-52, and Iowa State, 90-68.
• Augustana is led by 11th-year head coach Tom Billeter. He is 166-124 in 10 seasons at Augustana and 263-174 in 16 seasons as a college head coach.
• The Vikings return four starters from last season's squad that went 22-9 overall, 15-7 in league play and finished in a tie for third in the Northern Sun.
• Augustana advanced to the NCAA-II Central Regional semifinals before falling to Winona State 77-65.
• 6-9 sophomore forward Daniel Jansen is Augustana's leading returner scorer and rebounder at 11.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He was the NSIC Freshman of the Year last season.
• Junior Alex Richter also returns after averaging 9.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest last season.
• Freshman Matt Brazendale led the Vikings with a game-high 21 points in their last outing, a 90-68 exhibition loss to Iowa State last Sunday.
• Three Vikings finished in double figures, including Casey Schilling with 14 points and seven rebounds and Jansen with 13 points and six board.

LAST MEETING VS. AUGUSTANA
• Central Missouri claimed a 77-67 win over the Vikings in Warrensburg during the 1975-76 season.
• It was the second game of a home and home series that season, with Augustana winning the first meeting in Sioux Falls.

LAST TIME OUT • AUSTIN PEAY 78, CENTRAL MISSOURI 75 • 11/4/13
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- The Central Missouri Mules wrapped up the exhibition portion of their schedule with a 78-75 loss to Division I Austin Peay on Monday night at the Dunn Center. The Mules led 73-70 with just under two minutes to play, but the Governors ended the game on an 8-2 run.
    The Mules (0-2 exhibition) opened an early 8-5 lead on five quick points from Daylen Robinson. UCM extended the lead to four only to see the Governors (1-0 exhibition) come right back to tie the game.
    TJ White put the Mules back in front 18-16 with 9:40 to play in the first half only to see Austin Peay go on an 11-2 run to grab a 27-20 lead with 7:28 to play.
    The Mules crawled back to within three at 31-28 with just over five minutes to play, but the Govs quickly pushed the lead back to eight. Central Missouri was able to cut the lead to five right before the half on a Jon Gilliam layup, but Travis Betran hit a three at the buzzer to give APSU a 43-35 lead at the intermission.
    The Governors extended their lead to double digits out of the break. The lead hung around eight points through much of the early going in the second half. The lead sat at 53-45 with 14:49 to play in the game when the Mules went on a 13-2 run to grab a 58-55 lead with 9:52 to play in the game.
    A quick three by Ed Dyson tied the game at 58-all and the game remained tied for nearly two minutes until a Fred Garmon layup gave APSU a 60-58 advantage at the 7:49 mark.
    The Governors led 64-60 with 6:30 to play in the game, but the Mules went on a 10-2 run to grab a 70-66 lead with 3:11 to play. Gilliam hit a three to give the Mules the lead and White added to the lead with a layup.
    Betran scored four straight points for Austin Peay to tie the game before Robinson gave the lead back to UCM at 73-70 with 1:42 to play. A three by Betran tied the game with 1:26 to play and Zavion Williams put APSU in the lead for good with a free throw.
    Robinson led UCM with 11 points. Kyle Wolf added 10 points and nine rebounds and Gilliam also had 10 points.
    Betran led four Governors in double figures with 19 points. Chris Horton had a game-high 13 rebounds.

MULES IN SEASON-OPENERS
• The Mules are 11-0 in season-openers during the Kim Anderson era.
• The Mules are out-scoring their opponents 84.8 to 59.1 in those 11 games.
• Central Missouri beat Webster 67-62 in last year's season-opener at the Multi.
• UCM's last loss in a season-opener was a 76-56 defeat to Evangel to tip-off the 2001-02 season under Don Doucette.

MULES IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION
• The Mules are 101-27 in non-conference games during the Kim Anderson era, after going 9-3 in non-conference games last season.
• Central Missouri is 49-1 in the last 50 non-conference games at home.

MULES IN NEUTRAL SITE GAMES
• UCM is 41-19 overall in neutral site games during the Kim Anderson era after going 5-3 in neutral site games last season.

NEW ADDITIONS
• Central Missouri welcomes 10 newcomers to the roster in 2013-14 along with redshirts Preston Brunz (Mankato, Minn./Kirkwood CC) and Garrett Sandbothe (Lee's Summit, Mo./Park). Newcomers include Dillon Deck (Smithville, Mo./William Jewell), Ryan Donald (Memphis, Tenn./Shawnee CC), Jordan Epps (Springfield, Mo./Missouri Valley), Brennen Hughes (Moberly, Mo./Moberly CC), Sean O'Brien (St. Louis, Mo./Vianney HS), Daylen Robinson (Kansas City, Mo./Texas Tech), Connor Wheeler (Carbondale, Ill./John A Logan CC), TJ White (Raytown, Mo./Moberly CC), Kyle Wolf (Lenexa, Kan./Rockhurst HS) and Brad Woodson (St. Louis, Mo./Vianney HS).

ANDERSON LEADING THE WAY
• Now in his 12th season leading the Mules, Central Missouri head coach Kim Anderson has compiled a career record of 244-90 (.731).
• His .731 winning percentage ranks seventh among all active NCAA Division II coaches.
• He has led UCM to five MIAA regular season titles, more than any other coach in school history, four MIAA tournament championships, two Regional championships and two Final Four appearances.
• Anderson recorded career win No. 200 with a 65-61 win against Washburn on February 9, 2011.
• Anderson is one of only five coaches in Central Missouri history to record 100 or more career wins - Anderson (244), Tad. C. Reid (178), Earl Keth (159), Jim Wooldridge (131) and Lynn Nance (114).

MULES BASKETBALL HISTORY
• In the 109th season of UCM basketball the Mules have compiled a 1,585-919 (.633) record in 2,504 total games.
• The Mules are the second winningest program by victories in NCAA-II history.
• The Mules have won 20 or more games 22 times in the history of the program.
• Central Missouri has won 30 or more games in a season twice, both during the Kim Anderson era.
• UCM has won or shared 23 MIAA regular season championships and five MIAA tournament titles.

THE NEXT LEVEL
• In the Kim Anderson era, 20 former players have gone on to play professional basketball.
• Three players are either currently playing professionally or on a professional roster; Michael Hicks (Poland, Polpharma-Pakmet), Sanijay Watts (Germany, Dorsten) and Zack Wright (Germany, Brose Basket).

A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE IN ATHLETICS
• Central Missouri has won a combined 193 MIAA regular-season conference championships in 14 league sports to lead all schools.
• Last season, UCM captured three MIAA regular season titles and one tournament championship.
• Since 1983, the tenure of Athletic Director Jerry Hughes, UCM has won or shared 139 MIAA championships, more than any other league school.
• Central Missouri has won five national championships since 1980 (men's and women's basketball in 1984, baseball in 1994 and 2003, and women's bowling in 2003) and seven national championships overall.

A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE IN THE CLASSROOM
• The 550 Central Missouri student-athletes received 375 Academic Awards from the MIAA office for the 2012-13 academic year.
• 305 UCM student-athletes were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
• 37 UCM student-athletes were named MIAA Scholar Athletes with at least a 3.5 GPA and having earned all-MIAA honors in their respective sport.
• 33 UCM student-athletes were named MIAA Academic Excellence Award winners with a 4.0 GPA.
