STORY LINES
• The Central Missouri Mules head to Maryville, Mo. for a couple of key in-region matchups. The Mules will take on Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday and Upper Iowa on Sunday in the Bearcat Classic hosted by Northwest Missouri. Both games are scheduled to tip-off at 1 p.m.
• The Mules improved to 2-0 on the season with an 89-56 win over Culver-Stockton last Saturday.
• The Mustangs are 2-2 on the season. SMSU has wins over North Carolina-Pembroke and Grand Canyon and losses to Cal State-Dominguez Hills and Michigan Tech. The Mustangs will take on South Dakota State on Wednesday night before traveling to Maryville.
• Upper Iowa is 2-0 on the season with wins over William Jewell and Truman State. The Peacocks beat the Bulldogs in Kirksville 70-67 last Wednesday night.
• Central Missouri enters the season as the No. 2 pick in both the MIAA Preseason Coaches' and Media Polls.
• The Mules are receiving votes in the NABC Division II Preseason Coaches' Poll.

QUICK HITS
• Central Missouri is in its 108th season of basketball.
• Central Missouri is second all-time in wins in NCAA Division II with 1,565.
• UCM returns two all-MIAA performers from a season ago. Dominique Long was a second team All-MIAA and second team NABC All-District selection after leading the Mules in scoring (12.7 ppg) and rebounding (5.6 rpg) in 2011-12. Widgett Washington was an honorable mention all-conference honoree after averaging 11.9 points and 4.7 assists per game.
• The Mules return 67 percent of their scoring and 70 percent of their rebounding from last year's 19-8 team that claimed a share of the MIAA championship.
• The Mules were 19-8 a season ago and captured a share of the MIAA regular season championship.
• The 2011-12 season was the ninth straight year that Central Missouri won at least 18 games, the longest active streak in the MIAA. The longest streak in MIAA history is 11 seasons, held by NW Missouri State from 1997-2008.

SCOUTING SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE
• The Mustangs are 2-2 on the season after a 75-67 loss to Michigan Tech last Thursday. SW Minnesota State will play at South Dakota State on Wednesday night before heading to Maryville for the Bearcat Classic.
• They are led by head coach Brad Bigler, who is 50-39 in his fourth season leading the program. He is a 2003 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State.
• The Mustangs are led in scoring by Jordan Miller's 14.0 points per game. He is shooting 41 percent from three-point range and has made 15 of 37 attempts so far this season.
• In addition to Miller, two other SMSU players are averaging in double figures. Nick Smith averages 12.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, while Matt Zager chips in 11.5 points per outing.
• The Mustangs are shooting 41 percent as a team and 35 percent from three-point range having made 22-of-63 from beyond the arc. SMSU is 64-of-83 from the free throw line for 77 percent.
• Southwest Minnesota State averages 67.5 points per game and gives up 63.8. Opponents are shooting 42 percent against the Mustangs and have out-rebounded them by 1.6 boards per contest.

SCOUTING UPPER IOWA
• The Peacocks come into the Bearcat Classic at 2-0 on the season with wins over William Jewell and Truman State. UIU beat Truman 70-67 in Kirksville on Nov. 14.
• Upper Iowa is led by head coach Brian Dolan. In his seventh season in Fayette, he has compiled a 51-112 record.
• Sam Elgin leads the Peacocks in scoring at 15.5 points per contest. He also leads the team in rebounding pulling down 7.5 boards per outing.
• Jake Hughes and Joey Woods are also averaging in double figures at 10.0 points per game each.
• UIU is averaging 69.0 points per contest while holding opponents to 63.5.
• The Peacocks are shooting 46 percent from the floor and 38 percent from beyond the arc. Opponents shoot 44 percent from the field and 32 percent from three point range.
• UIU and their opponents are both averaging 32.0 rebounds per game.

LAST TIME OUT
• Central Missouri used a big second half to run away from Culver-Stockton 89-56 on Saturday afternoon.
• The Mules led 35-29 at halftime, but outscored the Wildcats 54-27 in the second half including a 13-0 run to start the half.
Charles Hammork and Dominique Long led five Mules in double figures with 13 points each.
• UCM out-rebounded the Wildcats 44-34 and held an 18-8 advantage in second chance points.
• The Mules shot 47 percent from the field and 33 percent from beyond the arc, while making 26-of-36 free throws for 72 percent.
• UCM held Culver-Stockton to 36 percent shooting from the field and 29 percent from three-point range. The Wildcats were 2-of-7 from the foul line for 29 percent.

MULES IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION
• The Mules are 94-24 in non-conference games during the Kim Anderson era and 2-0 this season after the 89-56 win over Culver-Stockton.
• Central Missouri is 47-1 in the last 48 non-conference games at home.

THE MULES AT HOME
• Central Missouri is 130-21 at the Multipurpose Building under Kim Anderson after the 89-56 win over Culver-Stockton last Saturday.
• Over the last eight years, UCM is 113-11 at home. Over that same time period the Mules are 47-1 against non-conference opponents at home and 66-10 in MIAA play.
• The Mules are 441-88 all-time at the Multi.

THE MULES ON THE ROAD
• The Mules are 59-47 in road games during the Kim Anderson era.

MULES PICKED SECOND IN MIAA PRESEASON POLLS
• Central Missouri is picked to finish second in the MIAA Preseason Poll by both the league coaches and media.
• The Mules received three first-place votes and tallied 180 points in the coaches' poll, while garnering 243 points in the media poll to come in second.
• MIAA Co-Champion Washburn is the top pick in both polls. The Ichabods received 11 of 15 first-place votes in the coaches' poll and 17 of 18 top nods in the media poll.

ANDERSON LEADING THE WAY
• Central Missouri head coach Kim Anderson has compiled a career record of 224-82 (.732) in his 11th season leading the Mules.
• He has led UCM to four MIAA regular season titles, more than any other coach in school history, three MIAA tournament championships, two Regional championships and two Final Four appearances.
• Anderson recorded career win No. 200 with a 65-61 win against Washburn on February 9, 2011.

• In the Kim Anderson era, 20 former players have gone on to play professional basketball.

• Following the fall 2012 season, Central Missouri has won a combined 191 MIAA regular-season conference championships in 14 league sports to lead all schools.

• The Kim Anderson Mules Basketball Show, presented by Bob Showers of Ameritas Investment Corp. will air on Monday nights at 7 p.m. on 1450 KOKO, 98.5 “The Bar” and
www.warrensburgradio.com. The show begins on Monday, Nov. 19 and runs through the regular season. There will only be two shows in the month of December on the third and 10th.
• The Central Missouri Sportspage is your weekly one-hour look at UCM athletics each Thursday night at 7 p.m. on KMOS-TV. Senior Associate Athletic Director Shawn Jones will sit down with Mules head coach Kim Anderson to discuss the previous week's games as well as weekly spotlights of Mules basketball players. The show will return in January of 2013.
