(TOPEKA, Kan.) – The Central Missouri Jennies fell to the fifth-ranked Washburn Lady Blues, 25-22, 21-25, 15-25, 21-25, ending their 13-game winning streak. The match also ended the Jennies school record set streak at 40 consecutive set victories. Senior hitter
Allie Huffman posted her sixth double-double of the season, with 10 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore
Julia Bates also recorded a double-double with 44 assists and 12 digs.
The Jennies looked solid throughout the first set, climbing to a 14-7 advantage and leading the whole way. Washburn used a timeout in the second set after a Lady Blues attack error gave the Jens a 10-7 lead, and the second game was setting up to end in the same result as the first. Washburn turned the momentum around from that point throughout the rest of the match. Quickly tied the set at 10-10, Washburn took the final four points, turning a 21-21 tie into a 25-21 loss for the Jennies.
After a quick 15-25 defeat in the third set, the Jennies climbed back from deficits of 3-1, 9-5, and 13-10, but could never get over the hump and take the lead. Washburn maintained a narrow two- or three-point lead throughout the rest of the set, and then closed out the win at 25-21.
