WARRENSBURG, Mo. – University of Central Missouri Track & Field broke one school record and several provisional and personal best performances on the opening day of action at the inaugural Kip and Kirk Outdoor Mule Relays on Thursday, April 9, on the University of Central Missouri campus.
Sprints/Hurdles
- The Jennies had two top-five finishers in the women's 200m dash. Grizell Scarlett finished runner-up with a provisional, outdoor personal best, and school record time of 23.31, while Emily Meeks was fifth with a personal best time of 24.41. Meeks' time ties for third-fastest in outdoor school history. Anayla Waters finished just outside the top five, placing sixth with a personal best time of 24.76, which is 10th-fastest in outdoor school history. Scarlett's time of 23.31 is also the best time in NCAA Division II so far this season.
- Kye Mason posted a top-five finish in the men's 200m dash, placing fifth with a personal best time of 21.23.
- Cortney Knutson finished in the top 10 of the women's 400m hurdles, with a personal best time of 1:06.34.
Distance
- Marianna Bizon finished second in the women's 5,000m run invitational with a personal best time of 17:21.05. Her time ranks fifth-fastest in school history.
- Brady Maher and Sam Mathis went 2-3 in the men's 3,000m steeplechase. Maher was runner-up with a time of 9:22.93, and Mathis was third with a personal best time of 9:25.03.
Jumps
- Landon Childs won the men's pole vault with a provisional mark of 4.90m (16-0.75) while Karter Kueser also had a two-five finish, placing fifth with a personal best mark of 4.75m (15-07.00).
- The Jennies had four top 10 performances in the women's pole vault. Kaira Mannio finished runner-up with a mark of 3.60m (11-11.75), Haley Sexton tied for fourth with a mark of 3.50m (11-05.75), Sydnie Bernard placed eighth with a mark of 3.50m (11-05.75 – lost tiebreaker to Sexton due to clearing previous height on third attempt while Sexton cleared on her first attempt), and Alaina Loman was ninth with a mark of 3.50m (11-05.75) on her third attempt.
- The Jennies went 3-4 in the women's long jump. Michenainda Aritus placed third with a mark of 5.75m (18-10.50), and Lauren Welch was fourth with a personal best 5.59m (18-4.25).
- Evan Gosnell and Jeremy Bennett both finished in the top 10 of the men's long jump. Gosnell was third with a personal best mark of 7.27m (23-10.25) while Bennett was fifth with a personal best mark of 7.08m (23-2.75).
Throws
- Addison Throckmorton won the women's javelin with a provisional mark of 48.51m (159-2).
- Briley Wishard was sixth in the women's hammer throw with a personal best mark of 52.64m (172-9). Her mark is eighth best in school history.
- Landon Mason and Shon Stark both had top 10 finishes in the men's hammer throw. Mason was seventh with a mark of 56.63m (185-10) while Stark was eighth with a personal best mark of 55.42m (181-10).
- Garron Blair posted a personal best mark of 52.98m (173-10) to finish in 10th in the men's javelin.
Relays
Prelims
- Nolan Vancauwemberghe and Jentry Acklin both secured spots in the men's 110m hurdles final with a top-eight finish in the prelims. Vancauwemberghe won the prelim with a provisional time of 13.96 while Acklin was fourth with a time of 14.84.
- Chika Bekwunye and Pau Martinez both earned spots in the women's 100m hurdles final with top eight finishes in the prelims. Bekwunye posted a provisional and personal best time of 13.96 to place first, while Martinez was fourth with a time of 14.491.
- Ariel Kerr advanced to the men's 100m dash final after placing fourth in the prelims on Thursday with a time of 10.449.
- All finals are scheduled for Friday.
The Mules and Jennies wrap up competition in the Kip and Kirk Outdoor Mule Relays on Friday, April 10, beginning at noon.
