MAYETTA, Kan. – No. 29-ranked University of Central Missouri Mules Golf posted a final round score of 4-over par 292 to secure a third-place finish at the Firekeeper Open on Tuesday, April 7, at the Firekeeper Golf Course.
The Mules posted round scores of 3-over par 291 in the first and second rounds on Monday for a combined 54-hole team score of 10-over par 874.
No. 7 Central Oklahoma ran away with the team championship after posting a three-round 9-under par 855. Host Washburn was second at 4-over par 868, with the Mules rounding out the top three in third.
CJ Phillips led UCM on the player leaderboard, tying for sixth with a 54-hole 1-over par 217 (74-72-71), while
Lawson Barks also compiled a top-20 finish, tying for 15th at 3-over par 219 (76-69-74).
Kale Flinton tied for 22nd at 5-over par 221 (71-74-76),
Brooks Baldwin tied for 32nd at 7-over par 223 (73-78-72), and
Jack Hope tied for 41st at 8-over par 224 (73-76-75), completing the UCM scoring.
Andrew Whittaker, who competed as an individual, tied for 22nd at 5-over par 221 (74-75-72).
Central Oklahoma's Rhett Hughes claimed individual medalist honors with a 6-under par 210, defeating Washburn's Myles Tarvin in a playoff.
The Mules are scheduled to compete in the MIAA Men's Golf Championship April 13-15 at Jefferson City Country Club in Jefferson City, Mo.
